Levers - Final

What's wrong with Lightech? Ducati made my bike and it seems to fail/break a lot...

Well, at the autopsy below their findings lead directly back to the Lightech's. They just generate too much heat. Also, Trauma has them :D

in all of these examples the master cylinders are the same, only the levers being different. i have the DP ones too, but beyond the adjustability they're not all THAT much different than stock!

True, but I think it's a noticeably different feel too them. It's just a comfort thing I guess. The biggest difference was after bleeding the brake lines.

I'll buy stock levers if anyone has a pair they want to sell for cheap. I was all set on folding levers, but now I'm thinking I'd just rather have a set of stock ones if something goes wrong at the track and I need a replacement to get home.

Yah, I just find everything else looks so aftermarket.

The Rizoma are too shiny, the LSL to matt, too long, too short.

DP just look so right:)

Stop saying things like that "DP just look so right":) I love the look of t hem too just not sure about the height increase of the peg position

Gilles look nice too.

Must resist and stick with my LSL which look pretty close in colour to std.

Every crash I've had with foldable levers were still functional afterwards.

Then that means your brake system wasn't setup or operating correctly (or dealer didn't bleed/deliver the system as it should).

Exactly. raining on the parade i imagine, but the shape DP and stock levers are very very close. The DP ones have a linkage which gives some play in the vertical direction that actually works AGAINST more efficient braking vs straight radial pressure. I think the DP ones are even heavier than stock :=). At least the lightech ones are made of magnesium. . .

But interesting enough if you could blindfold most people to ride a bike, I doubt that anyone could tell the difference in brake feel between the DP levers and the stock ones :).. . It's like saying I put on a carbon shock protector and wow the Ohlins shock work so much better now, different feel, different spring rates, et al.. ..

Now, could some people perhaps tell the changes between a stock lever and the DP lever ? Possibly, but you're probably talking extreme races under absolute ridiculous braking that can tell the difference between a cast lever and a billet one.. .

The real differences are changes in MC, calipers, and rotors. You'll get large variations in feel/response/performance in those changes but on the Panigale, that is a pretty large undertaking because you can't change one without the other unlike previous (and most other) bikes (the m50 is mated to the 1199 MC).

Depends, some levers like my current ones have an adjustable pivot point in addition to lever throw. I was pretty disappointed with the stock lever range of adjustability and length.

Likely, but it progressed over time. I suspect air got in the system somehow.

I appreciate your opinion, but the stock lever is thicker/wider and I can tell the difference. I'm not a racer. I'm not trying to say that it changed the braking, cured cancer or helped the heat issue. Just that the levers feel different and for the better. imo

I like the DP levers as well, but haven't tried any others to compare with. My biggest complain was having to shim the brake light sensor to get it to disengage properly. For 389.00 levers from Ducati I thought they would have just worked out of the box.

Whoa, I got hooked up by PJ for $199 shipped for the Lightechs. Can't wait until they get here, have to come from Italy again...

Well Nik,
After that rap how can I not go out and buy some. Good one buddy you just cost me more money.

I must admit they do look sweet. And as they are genuine DP Caliduc will approve.:p

what heat.:)

He He .. I approve .. on the 1199 I *LOVE* the DP levers

I also love the Brembo RCS Master levers on my 1098.

Yes, both bikes have Full DP on them :D

I have had the DP levers and DP rear sets on my bike for a long time now. They are a set and are designed as such. I am very happy with them and I have found them to be a vast improvement over the stock levers and rear sets.

I will not be upgrading the Brembo monoblock calipers on the 1199 as I am also very happy with them. I do wonder what difference upgrading the rotors to Brembo T Rotors will make ?

The only piece of DP equipment that I am not that impressed with is the DP alarm, the Scorpio R-Link system is way better - and their kit for the Panigale is now on the market.

My DP tank pad is still firmly fixed to the tank and has not peeled off.

I purchased AR folding shorties before I even took delivery of my "S" (7/3). Long levers just look dorky IMO. Work fine, look great. $254 delivered (a bit spendy?). Also shipped from England to Washington in 4.5 days. That's fast from anywhere let alone the United Kingdom IME.

I have the Ducabike EVO III and I can say there is def no free play. They are very smooth and very adjustable. I notice the pull is different because you can change the leverage ratio. I haven't had a chance to ride with them on the track so not sure what kind of brake feel I will have.

That's what I have, they are just actually made by PT in Italy. I didn't like the clutch play. SELLING!!!

Hey guys, got my Lightech's in and they are boss. Better than my $500 setup from PT. They have adjustable button actuation, stop, and set points. :D

Not that it really matters, but they are super light.

You know the drill. Pics or it didn't happen...

very nice levers.
I've been meaning to ask you, how did you get the domino grip on the throttle side, it seemed too stiff for me to get it over the throttle cylinder.
