so i took my bike out of the garage today turned the key and "STOP LIGHT!" popped up on the dash, and also a yellow symbol of a motor on the right side of the dash. I googled what the STOP LIGHT meant and it said something about loose wiring for my brake lights. So, i popped the trunk and played with the wires for a bit. I turned the key back on and the "STOP LIGHT!" disappeared. i rode down to the beach about 20 miles away from my house and it started to get dark i noticed that the light won't turn off on the far left bulb of my right tail light. Im afraid i might kill the battery. Anybody know what this is?

Check out the wiring diagram in the back of your handbook and see where it could be getting power from. Does yours have a park light position on the ignition switch? It's odd that one bulb only is lit.

The mention of a bulb indicates 1199 Base. Year model?

While you were fiddling with the rear wiring did you notice any corrosion in the wiring connectors? If so, get hold of a pencil type typewriter rubber or similar and polish the corrosion off the connectors. Then clean with isopropyl alcohol and reassemble.

Others on the forum have found wiring looms rubbed through on the frame edge. Repair any chafed looms as necessary and cable tie some thick plastic insulation to the loom after repair.

1. Did you have the brake squeezed (hand or foot) when you turned the ignition on? If you turn the bike on with pressure in the brake system you will get that warning. It will go away normally or if you turn off/on like you did.

2. Is the tail light stock or aftermarket. A few aftermarket tail light do this. Don't loose sleep over it. Its part of their design.

yeah i got it its the werkes parking light that goes away after 30 minutes thanks. hey nola I live about an hour away from you lol

Yeah, thats why I wouldn't buy that particular one. I went with the New Rage Cycles one. I hate the extra LED that stays on. (Probably a design flaw used to discharge a capacitor)

NOLA

+1 No major modifications with New Rage kit
