LighTech Lever Review

Trans, i can't help but laugh....you're suggesting to someone (i'm not sure who) to not worry about safety and "properly adjust/maintain your bike..." but it's you who didn't adjust his own brake lever properly! :p

Funny :)

Well, I brought the tool kit for the test ride because I wanted it dialed in as close as possible. I had the inclination that it would happen and I was prepared. I also didn't ..... about it and blame Lightech on an open forum.

Transnone--it appears your allen bolt is adjusted in too far. Mine is flush with the hex head bolt securing it....you might want to back it out a bit (the further you back it out the more travel/the further in the less travel). After that you adjust the rotary lever to set the proper reach length.

And nope--my fingers are pretty slender. The bolt was just set improperly for the Panigale (I believe these levers are also used on the RSV4 and the 1098/1198).

As for blaming LighTech, it's totally warranted. I'm fairly mechanically inclined and the 'adjustment screw' masquerades as a screw that holds the assembly together. It does not appear like it's an adjustment screw. Though they can't be blamed for a product that's dangerous, they can be blamed for not including instructions or a diagram for something that's not obvious. Additionally, a warning that not enough play could cause lockup/crash/death/dismemberment would be wise, too.

They came through on email (though all they did was send me a picture with a circle around a bolt), but I wonder how many guys out there are riding around with limp levers!

Yeah, that picture was taken before I dialed it in. At that point it caused the lock up I was talking about. They're both perfect now!

Not to resurrect a old thread in vain but dammit I wish I had read this before I bought them. I have a damn aviation degree and these things are nitpicky and anal retentive. Sending them back asap. Brake lock up at low speeds to test the action. Can't start it in neutral in has to be in gear and clutch lever in. There has to be something better and easier. Plus no damn instructions or even a diagram wtf is that.

Thanks for posting this for other Anti hope they read this before buying.

FYI, I'm running CRG Carbons now and they rock. Perfect fit. They don't fold, but they are slightly shorter than stock, so they may not need to.

Excellent review. My comment is for Combrig decision to all new releases not to provide plastic/metal rods for the main mast or the various yardarms. Not everyone have access to Evergreen
