yep, keeping it on a tender is all that's needed which I've done for all my ducs.
I did put a shorai on my streetfighter last year, the first duc I've ever owned that didn't stay on or need a tender.
RE: charging the lithiums, unlikely to ever need as the voltage drop is so minor, but you can charge with a non sulfating mode.

I started keeping mine on a tender, then found after 2-3 days, and then only a short ride, it has always turned over fine. And yes, 4 lbs compared to 371 isn't really a blink. Plus, I seem to remeber charging a lithium, or trickle charging it, is not as simple as a standard battery.
I'll probably wait till it dies too.
