Anyone have a recommendation for loading ramps? I'm using a van, but the ones for trucks should work fine.

There's quite a few out there, and most seem to get mediocre reviews.

So funny that I came here to inquire about the same topic and saw your thread posted just an hour ago.

I'm in the market for a ramp for my pickup. I've heard some have had issues with the exhaust dragging, so I'm looking for a longer (and wider) ramp.

Hey Gents

In my 30+ years of riding & racing Ive used everything from pieces of wood to the regular big ramps with the rubber covered tongues & vented boxes on it (you know which one i mean right?) :D

However, this is by far the best ramp Ive found and used thus far. Not to mention met up with a fantastic sales rep (Who is actually the Co CEO!) there who made it a pleasure to deal with and actually give my money to!

https://www.handiramp.com/foldingmotorcycleramps.htm

Its a NICE folding ramp that is long enough, even for my Ram 2500 that even without a lift kit sits VERY high off the ground! (Pic attached) It has that grip tape on entire length and a carry handle as well. Folds up perfectly to fit in bed of truck or any other smaller location. I can't believe I don't even have pics of me loading a bike with it in my collection either!

If interested, feel free to use my name and reach out to the CEO personally and see what he can do for you. Here he is!

I have been using this for my street and dirt bikes. It is strong enough to handle a four wheeler as well.

Big Boy II Folding Motorcycle Ramp System - 8' to 12' Long | DiscountRamps.com

I have these ramps. Love em because I can do everything myself now with no need for help. If you're just loading into a van, you should be fine with a single width ramp like the one Gunny posted. I'm loading into the back of a F150 so I need the length/width.

Also, look into getting the PitBull trailer restraints. Hands down the best way to secure a bike for transport.

Thanks guys. Of all those recommendations, I think I like the idea of getting two of the 10' folding Titan ramps. One for the bike, and one for me to walk up and down while loading/unloading.

10' Long Single Folding Arch Ramp

The price is definitely right...

I've owned my Ready Ramp for 25-years. Bulletproof. The MotoD ramps are great for around $100. Ready Ramps are about $300 but much better quality.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations.

Gunny - my only concern with those ramps is that they have no arch, just a flat ramp. A friend of mine rides a 1199 and has bottomed it out a few times using a flat ramp.

The titan and bigboy both look pretty good. The single ramp titans are nice and light but very narrow. I'll probably go with the bigboy2.

I have two of the 10' Big Boy II ramps. They are not light but make it really easy to load a bike single handed. (Loading into a Tacoma PU). The real issue is storing them in the back along with the bike. I load the beast slightly off to one side so there is enough clearance to stack the two ramps on the wider side.

These things could load a tank (otherwise known as a full dresser Harley) with little deflection.

I have a new Ford f150 and bought the Ford extended ramps. They attach to the back of the gate and keep them from sliding off the tailgate when loading. Really work well. You can buy them as a set or individual.

12' ramps are the way to go. Like the bigboyII and blckwidow.

The arch keeps bikes from bottoming and falling off. And the length makes a nicer angle, you can just roll the bike up it by hand. You should add some kind of keeper to the side rail of your truck so that you can ratchet strap them verticly, and securely. To keep them off your bike. Generally I just leave the ramps at home. My destinations often have ramps.

Don't move a $22,000+ bike with a $150 dollar ramp. I also double up on straps. Two of the quicky pull straps to hold the bike in place, while I add 2 ratchet straps.

2 is one, one is none.

Now sometimes I do use a simple flat $50 dirtbike ramp from Harbor Fraught. But I back my truck into a ditch, or up to a hill, until the ramp lays level.

Black Widow makes some nice stuff. I have their 9 ft ones (it will fit inside my crew cab if I don't have room in the bed) and have their wheel chock also to help hold the bike up (and it's not bolted down).

I just moved from an SUV to a GMC Sierra 4x4 truck.

I bought a Black Widow foldable ramp. Putting the bike (1098S) in for the first time was no big deal, unloading it at COTA in the rain was scary as the tires just slipped on the ramp cross rails.

So I bought 4 sheets of 12" x 24" x 1/8" from McMaster Carr. I secured these to the rails and then put self adhesive AntiSlip tape on the shiny side.

I also use a 2' x 10' plank, with AntiSlip, to walk up and down next to the bike.

Great idea. What tool/hardware did you use to fasten the sheet metal onto the ramp cross bars?

Also, is that a 9' or 10'? I just want to determine what length I will need to avoid high-centering my 1299.

These were the clamps 1/2" wide, 3/8" Id, part # 8863T2 McMaster-Carr

I used some Flanged Button-Head Socket Cap Screw, 316 Stainless Steel, 1/4"-20 Thread, 5/8" Long McMaster-Carr

and some 1/4"-20 Lock nuts
