The title :( what are my options? Cheapest vs quickest. What am I looking at. Again :(

Ok I searched lost key, nothing came up. I just made new thread and now it’s showing all key lost related threads. Sorry guys.

I got my bike with only one key for it. You can contact your Dealer and they will get you a new BLANK key from Ducati for the Bike. Without a spare to get a pattern from, I'm uncertain how you would cut the new key for the proper pattern. Contact your Dealer for more information on that. Keys are something like $160USD, uncoded, the Dealer will charge you about a half hours labor to code the key to match the bike. The Dealer may be able to get a Key from Ducati in Italy with the matching pattern for the ignition lock, but the only choice is to ask them. Provide proof of ownership and the VIN. My total cost, for the key, getting it cut by a locksmith, and recoded to match the bike totaled about $300 USD.

Hope this helps.

One other thing to mention, you can bypass the Security key coding to run the bike by supplying the proper 4-digit security code when the bike is initially turned on. This provides a backup for a rider whose key fails for some reason, but will still turn the ignition lock. Your Dealer can set the code in the computer for you to the numbers you desire, and then you have a backup in case of a key failure.

Yeah thanks alot for the input Sheikh. It costed me just over CAD900 for a set of two keys. Now sometimes it fires up nice, and sometimes it asks for the code. The locksmith told me the code. I put in the code and it says the code is correct and takes me to my dash but on the main dash it says E-lock in the front big and then it settles down on the dash on the side. Bike still fired up and i put it in gear and rode couple feets while standing (couldn't really ride at that moment).

Also I took off side mirros and installed block off mirror signals as I am going for handlebar mirros. I fired up the bike and see little bit of smoke coming and could smell it too and now it shows check engine light on the dash.

Prior to this I screwed up oil pan threads and had to install a new oil pan. I installed clear clutch cover with pressure plate and retaining ring but now it sounds little bit different. Not sure if thats how its supposed to be after this aftermarket installation or something is wrong. I have no idea what is going on with this bike.

What color is the smoke? does it smell like unburnt gasoline, sweet like coolant, or oil?

I recently bought a salvage 1199 from a Copart auction. It had no key, ignition, immobilizer, or dash. I bought a set of keys and immobilizer from someone on FB for about $400. It's plug and play. Just plug the ignition/immobilizer into the bike, and the keys that come with it will work.

I went this route rather than SOSDiagnotics, which you can send your existing ignition/immobilizer to, and they'll cut and program a key to work with it. I think they charge about $500 for this service.

Oh...and don't bother calling the dealer. I did, and they swore the only solution was to buy all new keys, ignition, immobilizer, dash, ECU, etc for like $2,500. I should have called them back, spoke with the service manager, and told them to stop lying to people. Maybe that $2,500 option is the only option the dealer can offer. But it's certainly not the only option that exists.

I've pretty much given up on the Dealer except as a last resort parts source. They lied to me ONCE... never again.
