Sorry to hear about your incident.

I went riding last weekend and temperature was on my mind all through ( i'm in Chicago).

Do you know what the actual temperature was when you left that morning?

And were you on super-corsas?

things coulda gone a lot worse but this is minor damage for what happened... good to hear u didnt get hurt buddy...

Thanks guys I added some photos of the damage on the first post. I was lucky good thing I was wearing my riding gear. The Dainese Air Drake pants pants did its job it felt like i was in my full leathers. I didn't even feel the impact on my knee when it hit the ground. They are only good for one crash though not like leathers paints or suit.

Scrapper, glad you are okay and the bike did not get damaged too much. Thanks for posting and taking the time to put the pics up on how the accessories held up and your dainese gear.

A great reminder for me to take it easy on cold tyres. Cheers.

Bummer Scrap. Glad you and the bike all had minor damage. I'll take your lowside and make that my 10 year reminder. :)

not sure about the temp maybe 60ish outside but the garage was colder. Drove less than 100 yds when it happened. Super Corasa Sp V2

I'm not an expert but it sounds like the condition of the road (new and greasy) may have contributed a little more to this incident than the tempreture of the tire...again I'm not an expert.

I went riding into Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin from Chicago over the weekend at it was about 45F when i left.

THe words "Cold Tire" and "Grip" were flashing in my mind for the first 30 min of the ride.

Thankfully there were no issues...I'm on Super Corsa SPs as well.

Nonetheless, its good to know that you have no physical injuries from this unfortunate event and the plus is that fixes needed for you bike look minimal.

I'm believe fully that information is power and so many would have gained by reading about your experience....I know I have.

Thanks

Yep I think it was a combo of both. I ride my bike through the canyons on Hwy 33 at a lot colder temp (36 ish) with no problems with the Sp v2's but my tires usually comes up to temp before I reach the canyons. I know my tires didn't come up to temp less than 100 yds they were hard as a rock before I pulled out of the garage and still hard after the low side. That was the first thing I checked when the bike was lying on the ground. As far as the asphalt goes I took my propane torch to the street and got rid of the greasy asphalt on my turn in point on that corner like the old days when we used to drag race in the cars. Took my bike and drifted around that corner a few time to make sure its gone :D The HOA president laughed but helped me burn it off and he is calling a company to do the whole street to make sure.

I agree and I have already ordered another pair.

I really like the Air Drake pants. Very comfortable and the open weaves breathes well at highway speeds. The built-in knee/shin armor is great for the times you wear short boots. Can you take some pics of your crash tested gear as well?

Glad you and your bike is ok (not bad). incident like this reminds...anything can happen at any time.

All those gadgets really did their job the engine slider saved you a ton of money, did you snap off a fork stop?

I've always wondered how long it takes to warm up the tires on the Street on a 50 degree day in stop and go traffic. Any thoughts?

One of the mistakes people do, especially when driving in city traffic, to to lock the elbows and hence put a shitload of weight into the front tire, which is not designed to take that much load.
