Some of ya'll have seen my posts the past few months, and some probably figured I was a troll and would have been happy to see me go. But I most assuredly was not a troll, and today I made the deal. The bike is bought and paid for, but still at the dealer. I'm having it delivered to my house tomorrow. Logistics just aren't good for me having someone take me up to the dealer today, so I just drove up and did the paper work and paid them.

Pics are about the same, but slightly different angle. Oddly enough, they got in the new heat shields yesterday and were putting them on yesterday when I went up there to make the offer. The owner of the dealer is a 30 year friend of mine, but I had not talked to him in a couple of months and he did not even know I was going to be there yesterday. When I made him the offer he said the bike was in service getting ready to have the heat shields installed. BTW, in person they really don't bother me at all.

Can't wait to get the bike and do some riding this weekend!

BTW, it is a new "leftover" 2012 ABS model.

About effin' time!! :) Very happy for you - you certainly know what you are getting into, it ain't no Ninja! Who's the old guy in the pic, your Dad? :D

Ok, the rear guard looks like the avatar that was the all leather person with the belly blown up - the cylinder looks like Batman's chest plate - not sure I can put that on my bike, this summer will tell, plus I can compare to my neighbor Apeluvs. Maybe just never look at this side of the bike.

Well done, be prepared for a total shift in what your thought previously, be patient, there is a lot to learn on these new machines.

enjoy and cheers

jjsC6...congratulations!

You're going to love it!

I've had my leftover 2012 S Abs for a month now...600 mile sevice will be done on Friday!

Ride Safe!

Enjoy it will take a little while to completely fall in love with it. Yes, after the break-in and first service you will love it even MORE. I know it's hard to believe but true.

And we need a heat report ASAP. Get it nice and warmed up then sit in some 80 degree traffic lights for us!

Don't forget to set the suspension to the progressive mode and have them set the sag for you as well.

It's supposed to get up to 80 hear Sunday. If the rain stays away I should get a good feel for the heat. I definitely felt it on the test ride I did a couple of months ago.

My dealer has a new Ducati Mechanic that has about 25 years experience with them. I spent about 15 minutes this morning talking to him and he brought up the issue of helping me set up the bike - suggested I wait until the 600 mile check to see what I like and don't like.

BTW, the owner of the dealer and I got to be good friends 30 years ago. At the time he was one of the very top amateur road racers in the country, and he usually has a Ducati as his own bike. He know bikes as well as any dealer owner you'll ever meet so I have a real asset in dealing with him.

Thanks for the great input

Congratulations! Why would you wait until the 600 mi service for the oil-quarium?

I didn't say that. What I said is that the mechanic suggested I wait until the 600 mile service to have him help me set up the suspension.
