I think if Hayden was on a Yamaha or Honda he would have won by now as well. Unfortunately, for Hayden he's always played second fiddle his entire time in MotogGP. So for all the work he puts in the team is still going to build the bike to the specs of the primary rider Rossi (twice), Stoner and Pedrosa. He's no Rossi agreed but still capable of winning if given and decent bike.
I think they should keep them both and if Rossi leaves replace him with Crutchlow. However, we should find out real soon as seats are filling up quickly. Reportedly the Crutchlow Ducati deal has an expiration date of tomorrow and with the Audi/Ducati purchase being final Ducati is out of excuses for Hayden. ;)

Well said Sir! You and I are on the same page.

Ideally, they would have three bikes, and snatch up Crutchlow, and keep both Rossi and Hayden. Yes, I am dreamland right now (i.e. not thinking realistically).

ok rossi won on yamaha not ducati. he has done a whole lot of nothing on a ducati machine. Nicky has out raced him the entire time with not one peep about the bike and rossi is a better rider then nicky. rossi is being a baby won't even try likes 10th place. all he does is complain oh its this its that get me new tires can't ride the settings let me try Nickys settings still can't do a single thing. Moto gp is a joke anyway its like indy car the budget of the team is what matters. rossi left yamaha and honda the teams didn't miss a beat. rossi comes to ducati and all down hill. stoner won on ducati last year. he also won on every single track in moto gp. do you really think that stoner wouldn't place higher on the ducati machine right now then rossi is? if rossi was so good the bike wouldn't matter that much. so go take all your 46 gear and cheer 10th place finishes

Nicky finished behind Rossi last year in the points. Neither was really competitive. Rossi is ahead of Hayden in points this year again. So I don't see how you can say he's out competing Rossi. Everywhere except where it counts I guess huh? I like Hayden, and agree with you that he's a trooper and does the best he can with the bike he's given.

I agree with you that Stoner would be the most competitive rider on this Ducati. He's been the only one that has wrestled that beast to the podium. But he's tapping out of MotoGP, so there's not much to say about him.

For the record, I just bought my first piece of 46 gear (I've been a Rossi fan for awhile though), the AGV PistaGP baby!

It is all relative though. If you look at Stoner's results from 2010, he had 4 x DNFs and 1 x DNS and Rossi last year had 3 x DNFs and one race cancellation. If you also look at the race times of last year compared to 2010, Rossi actually had faster race times than Stoner in eight of the dry races. Stoner came 4th in the Championship in 2010, Rossi came 7th last year. Just goes to show how much the Honda and Yamaha evolved last year compared to the Ducati.

Better on motogp...

Nicky Would Superbike here we come :(

After helping in the development of this Bike, they should keep him at least for 1 more year. That would've being sad that someone else gets glory from what Nicky helped in the making. :(

Now Althea Racing Team might need a new pilot for 2013 ???

I had to read that a few times to understand what you were saying! Sometimes I get so used to skimming these posts. :)

I see now though - so Rossi was going faster on a Ducati in 2011 than Stoner was on a Ducati in 2010. Very interesting, and as you say, eye opening in terms of how much better the Honda and Yamaha doing now. Ugh, Ducati need to keep up on development. Great data and analysis.

Rumour is Rossi may have already signed with Ducati again. It's also highly likely Crutchlow will sign at Mugello MotoGP.

The rumours are very strong Nicky will be going to WSBK next year to race the Panigale.
Atleast that's what Ducati would like to see happen (or so I'm told by someone who works there) Not really sure if Nicky would agree or go for that.

The original plan was for the Ducati WSBK team to come back and Checa to go there. However it seems he has put the word out he is willing to go to another team for the right "price". That has likely pissed people at Ducati off and they would now like Hayden to go to the reborn Ducati team and get a WSBk championship on the Pani.

There is even talk of Biaggi moving to Ducati, but I can't imagine that. Rossi and Biaggi both at Ducati LOL! Even if in different leagues. Punch up at the next WDW anyone?

Why does everyone keep saying Hayden is out performing Rossi? The current standings has Rossi in 6th with 71 points and Hayden in 8th with 65. Yes we are only talking about 6 points, but as of now Rossi is out performing Hayden. I think both of them are doing the best they can do with what they have. Hopefully Audi's pockets are deep enough to bring a winning trend to Ducati again.

Because Hayden has out qualified Rossi in all but two rounds this year and has a higher qualifying avg. Because Hayden has consistently been faster than Rossi in all practice and test sessions. Because he's beaten Rossi to the finish line in half of the races this year and if it wasn't for Rossi's second place finish in the rain @ Le Mans he would be trailing Hayden in points as well. ;)

As much as I would love to see Nicky stay in GP, I think him on a Panigale in WSB would be a deadly combo. Either that or he could try and go for a CRT team but I think he would rather go to WSB. Ducati is supposed to have upgrades at Laguna for the bike, also with Audi buying them I wouldn't be surprised if they dump a bunch of money into the program. Audi wants to win combine that with Ducati's passion to win a we could have a deadly combo. I personally think that Ducati will give Rossi a bike that can win, I think Rossi will win 1 more title with Ducati then retire, leaving Crutchlow to take over. Also in WSB, It gives Nicky a chance to be on top again and prove the Panigale.
