anyone ridden on the M7rr's yet....at pace?

suppose to be good and they're another option in a 200/55

cheers,

Would be intersted too. Anyone been able to get some miles on these?

I'm thinking of replacing the OEM Pirellis with Metzeler M7RR in March. The Pirellis simply wear too fast and the Metzeler should offer a bit more tire life. Grip should be good enough for street riding. I barely get the Pirellis up to temperature in cold spring temperatures.

I read somewhere that Metzeler and Pirelli are made from the same factory and with the same compound.

Pirelli own metzeler, own R&D....apparently.

I would think that they are pretty close though, I'm hoping the M7RR is a developed rosso corsa, given they are a few years old now.

I discussed this swap with my dealer last weekend. He is not too eager to sell my the M7RR, since they will have "less grip than the Supercorsas". Anyway, I think the grip is still enough for street riding (not talking about race track), since I read several tests where M7RR were mounted on BMW's S1000RR and performed well. According to These Long-term tests, the M7RR should last considerably longer than the Supercorsas (approx. 4-5k km / Supercorsa front tyre only 1500km with my riding style).

After all, I came to the conclusion to try the M7RR (as soon as the temperatures in bloody Switzerland will rise to an acceptable level).

It's been a while since my last post, but I've put about 1500km on my M7RR now (yes, the weather in Switzerland is not always how I would like it to be for riding). Just wanted to share my thoughts.

Pricing is approx. the same as the Pirellis, but I expected them to last much longer. According to last year's test results, one should be able to put 5-6000km on them, whereas my front Pirelli (front) is gone after 1500km.

I did a short break-in (250km) and did not notice a big difference to the Pirellis. They warm up very quickly and you can ride with confidence and lots of grip after just 1-2km. Since I signed up for a track day in Dijon, France, I tried the track performance as well. They hold up very well and I did not notice and major problems, no big slides or any moments whatsoever. But since I never did a track day with the Pirellis, I cannot really compare the two tires. I guess the Pirellis should offer a little more grip. However, the M7RR wears really well and shows a good wear pattern (suspension was in stock setting in race mode). After about 300-350km on track, there was not much wear to be noticed (although I was a novice on track, my first track day, and hardly pushed the tire to its limits). Knee down was no problem and I felt confident.

Back on the street I can confirm that the tires require a little more effort at turn in than the Pirellis. But the grip seems to be comparable. I run the same level of TC now as I used to with the Pirellis (5 Sport Mode, 3 Race Mode) and did not notice and more interference of the TC than with the Pirellis. The wear pattern looks very good and even. After 1500km completed I hardly notice any wear front or back and my pace is not too slow. Most of my riding is Country roads and mountain pass, so it's a lot of curves and not much straight line. I guess the tyres should last for at least another 3000km, which is far more than the Pirellis!

All in all for me its a win-win situation and the tyres are a bargain compaired to the Pirellis if you compare how long they last. Will definitely not go back to Pirellis, but might try the Bridgestone s20evo next as well.

More interested in if anyone tried a set of Metzeler Racetec RR K3. So hard to find any vendors for a set.

I've read tons about them from professional reviews, but nothing much from regular joes.

You have caught my attention. I was looking at the possibility of rosso corsa's for my next set of tires. If the M7RR is an equivalent, I might look at that also.
