WOW!
I'm not surprised by the 300.00 price - that's a lot of stuff to coat.
I would definitely talk to Jet-Hot on the phone once they get the stuff and before they start coating in order to be perfectly and absolutely clear on what you want done to each and every piece.
Also, be prepared for some very tight fitting or perhaps not fitting parts when everything is coated. The clearances are already pretty tight on the uncoated parts and the coatings will reduce those clearances even more.
You may want to consider having them protect (not coat) portions of the pipe joints both inside and out since it is going to be a real PITA to reassemble coated. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!
I strongly encourage you to dry fit everything PRIOR to starting the re- installation process on the bike - it is a PITA to find out something doesn't quite fit when you're already under the bike and then have to pull two pieces off to work them over.
Very anxious to see them though!!
WOW - your Monster looks great!
I wish I'd done my Monster when it was new. I may yet, given the look of yours!
Good news on the dealer's experience - that may cut down some of your labor costs.
And, here are the photos of the lined lower right fairing and the CF rear cylinder header cover: DEI REFLECTIVE MATERIAL INSTALLED - Ducati 1199
These photos are after 200 miles of moderate riding.
There is no scorching or even discoloration anywhere on the lower right fairing and most importantly none along where the header and fairing are closest. The adhesive shows no signs of failure anywhere either. The closest point between header pipe and fairing is about 6mm along the upper edge of the exposed portion of the header towards the rear.
The CF piece over the rear cylinder exhaust header which I also lined with the DEI gold reflective material did not fair so well. While there was already existing heat damage prior to lining it, the heat continues to take its toll. The images show damage to the lining in exactly the same location as before where the separation between header and the CF is about 3mm or about 1/8 of an inch. There are also indications the adhesive either failed or I did not apply enough pressure when applying the lining. So, if 6mm separation works for the lower right fairing then that's my initial goal - 6mm separation.
I can't lower the header to increase the clearance so perhaps a spacer washer of some sort but the nearest attachment point is one of the screws that attaches the CF piece in place and it may be too far away to realize much benefit where needed. I will also look for another reflective/insulative material though with the already minimal clearance any material that is much thicker than what I'm already using will result in direct contact with the header which is probably worse. Perhaps a combination of spacer and maybe two more layers of the DEI material will be sufficient.

The Ducati dealer dismantled all of the components of the Termignoni full exhaust system prior to sending to Jet-Hot. I'm having everything Jet-Hot coated Satin Black.
Pic attached of all of the pieces.
I see someone else close to home has 1199, what was the price of the full job coating exhaust and installation etc.?
thanks
Z
Does the ceramic coating last "forever," or does it chip or dimple over time? (barring impacts, etc)
Zaid1199,
I just shared this pic of all of the pieces with Jeff Howell of Jet-Hot and he raised the price of coating significantly. I won't publish the price until he confirms the final price once he receives the shipment of the exhaust on Tuesday. He claims he thought it was only one slip-on plus header pipes however I had sent him several pics a few days ago of several shots of the entire system found on the internet. (his new quote is considerably more than $300.)
My Ducati dealer Seacoast Sport Cycle in Derry, NH is including the installation with the price of the full system, however he is charging me labor for the dismantling and re-assembly of the slip-ons. 2-Day UPS shipping is $64 each way. All together I'm figuring it will cost me between $850 to $950 to Jet-Hot coat, shipping and re-assembly of the entire Termignoni system. Not an inexpensive undertaking, but the reduction in radiant heat along with the esthetics of an all Satin Black look should make it all worthwhile.
WOW! nothing on this bike is cheap at ALL! I live 10 minutes down the road from seacoast, and was waiting on a price from them, however the $850 - $950 is a little more than i want to spend right now, and besides August is knocking at the door and fall is right behind that, i can wait.
thanks for the information
Zaod1199,
What do you want Seacoast to price out? Full Termi system plust JetHot coating or just coating the headers?
To start what would coating the exhaust cost, PLUS removal and installation, and maybe a slip on exhaust, but i'm still iffy on that the bike is loud with out pipes

Hi, did you put more Gold Foil on it? Did it help?
I did. I put three more layers on it covering the heat-damaged area and an added bit of margin.
It has all burned and the CF is in that corner is now toast.
I showed it to the Service Manager at ACE Motorsports. I'm going to take it off and take it back on Tuesday for them to send their photos to DNA.
I have not figured out a way to get sufficient gap between the header loop and the CF shield. I tried a lot of things. I think the shield is going to have to be redesigned so that it bends upward at that particular point or they're going to have to create a heat resistant spacer that fits between the header and the CF shield.
I'll take it off tomorrow (Sunday) and post updated picks - I don't know if the metal shield will fit with the Termi header installed - but I'll try tinkering with it tomorrow too.
There may be other heat resistant material out there as well that can take the direct contact and protect the CF. I haven't exhausted all resources yet.
Be interested in anyone else with damage to their CF heat shield. I expect it's gonna be in the same location as it is on mine.
