Hey all.

Nothing major to report in this thread, just contributing to passing around colloquial evidence of any issues.

Took my S for more running in last Wed, and at 400km (cumulative) spotted the left front fork leaking oil, not too much but slow and steady enough to get blown back and coat the fairing.

Looks like a leaky seal. Dealer confirmed it is a warranty matter and the seal will arrive in a couple of weeks.

Would have expected a little more from a brand new machine, but I guess these things can just happen.

if that is the case, it is the ohlins who is at fault. can you still ride your bike or do you have to wait for the new seals to arrive?

you're right.

yep, its rideable, and while running in i won't be hammering the suspension too much, so don't think it should be too much of an issue. will just keep an eye on it.

fork leaking

better not to ride it with oil leak as this can contaminate the brake pads or blow out completely then covering your tire/s with oil

Thanks for the tip.

The dealer's technicians seemed to think I could continue to ride it so the first service could be done at the same time as the repair. Might call them back and have a chat.

@iceman

Thanks. Yep, same issue, same dealer. Although that one might be rear suspension, judging by host comments. Hmm.

I agree - OP, be careful.

I had a fork seal quite literally explode while I was riding, dropping all of the fluid in the process, covering my brakes, tires, etc. Was like riding on ice.

My front fork rightside started leaking bad at 1400 miles, a steady flow of fluid. At first I thought it was some road oil, cleaned the bike. and oil was back within 50 miles. Towed to shop, hope they have the seal available.

watch out for this.

Stopped at dealer to look at my bike fresh out of the crate, my friend noticed fork oil on right fork, dealer said that its normal, but I remembered reading this thread...what do you guys think. Should I push for replacment before I pick it up?

He should not ride, and ought to wait until it's fixed as it's dangerous.

Absolutely.

And find a new dealer to do servicing if you can.

I have the same issue at just past 1000mi....

be weary it took my dealer several days to get the seals only to realize that they dont have the correct tool to secure the fork seal caps....so now i am waiting over another beautiful weekend without my brand new bike.....
this bike has been out how long and the dealer doesnt have all the tools to work on the bike??? who's fault is that? Dealer or Ducati for not supplying them with the tool....

and no loaner bikes......i am quite pissed.....

all i know is that I am going to inquire about the amount of oil that was leaked all over the brakes and wheels. quite a bit of fluid came out.....

I am wondering if I should tell them i want new shocks and to replace the brake pads as well?? thoughts?
