Typical woke comments like MotoGP is run by Google or Meta.

They say 800cc makes it more sustainable

What a load of bs

Agreed - sustainability is merely pandering.

Otherwise though, I’m excited for the changes - seems it will move results away from aero and rider aids a bit, and back into the hands of the riders.

The aero change and ride height device changes I can get with but the cc and top speed reduction, really?

Top speed aside, would we still see a decrease in lap times? They removed weight by removing ride height and hole shot devices and going to a smaller engine. Three years I'd hope would see better tire tech, or an evolution of, so maybe there something there too.

If they went to full ethanol fuel, which has a stoichiometric ration of 9.003 compared to gasolines 14.7. IIRC, this means they can run more compression since a greater volume of fuel is used and can serve to cool the air fuel mix. Same reason boosted engines can run more boost with ethanol, and ethanol has more oxygen etc etc.

It is kind of virtue signaling buzz word nonsense to say going to bio fuel or full synthetic fuel is sustainable. Sustainable at what cost? By what metric is it sustainable? If it's to be made fully synthetically, what's the chemicals and process involved? I don't see any of this as a bad thing per se, but rather lacking in transparency.

It’s weird that people try to politicize this. Woke. Virtue signaling. It’s racing not immigration reform.

Might get a reduction in top speed but I can’t tell the difference between 220 mph vs 230. But I can appreciate better braking and mid corner speed. Eventually we’ll run out of room at tracks if top speed continues to increase. Keep a little aero and continue development of TC schemes to keep things safe midcorner so what happened in the 800 cc era doesn’t happen again.

And yet they are talking about ‘sustainability’. The transport used for equipment and personnel is far more of an issue than the racing, assuming that you believe it’s an issue at all (which I’m sure you do).

It’s probably best to stick to the topic of the thread before it gets dragged off into many pages of politics, arguments and personal comments (happy to engage but not in this thread).

Sucks, but there was some kind of mechanical problem. His sprint issues continue...

It's hard to not see Martin as the favorite for the 2024 championship.

Q2 was a mess. I'd really like to see a deep dive into what was going on there.

Marquez doesn't seem to be the runaway leader everyone thought he'd be as soon as he got on a Ducati. He's doing better for sure.

Talent costs money.
