Looks like the Blue Ridge Parkway - great riding but you have to deal with the 45 mph speed limit (or just ignore it ;))

Cherahola Skyway, on the TN side
Had ablast on the 1199 but just traded it in on a 1299S this past weekend, lol

crazy...the ducati scored highest in 7 of the measure categories...the Aprila scored highest in 4... the only thing that lowered the average score of the Ducati was the prices...

Clearly, that aside, the ducati is the winner

I don't understand why Price is a measured category for a performance shootout...

So if you are building a custom sportbike and your budget is $16,000, you don't think you'd be able to get more performance out of the bike if your budget was $25,000? Performance and price go hand-in-hand.

True - but subjective factors such as "value" don't belong in a track performance test for stock machines (or they should be limited in scope). To keep it simple they should just test all "base" models, even though more manufacturers are offering optional suspension packages

There are always buyers that look at what they can do with the money they save if they choose something like the R1 over the 1299. They're going to consider how a R1 with around $9k in performance upgrades stacks up to the 1299.

Agree and that's why there should be a "$1500 (or $x) in mods" comparison with all the bikes derestricted, but I don't see it happening because of budget and time constraints associated with these tests.

there is a really good comparison venue for stock bikes with limited but typical modifications, like exhaust and a modest fueling remap, standard tires, and some of the world's best riders. This comparison even runs across several tracks on different days.

It's called World Superstock. Who's selling the best race-ready package off the showroom floor? One needs to only look at who's doing well in that race series; the list of modifications is so strict that there are plenty of street bikes that are higher spec than those being raced.

What would you buy with $1500 in mods allowance for the 1299?

Not much :)

But it would buy a pipe, tune, and suspension mods for an R1M, good for about 192-195 rwhp and one hell of a track package. The ZX-10R would be right there as well, at least 185 rwhp

Ben Spies? Kevin Schwantz? Wayne Rainey?

The problem is there aren't many Americans competing on the world level now, unfortunately

Nicky Hayden and John Hopkins can be added to the list of AMA riders who went to MotoGP.

The FIM Superstock bikes have much more factory backing behind them. All the major ones are putting forth their best efforts. The MA series is slightly skewed since Graves/Yamaha are the only ones that have the dollars to push development and setup. Which essentially proves that in reality, they are all close enough that all that matters is which one gives you the biggest boner.

For those that haven't been able to watch the FIM Superstock 1000 races this year, I'll host them so you can download them. Just give me a few hours to get them set up. It's really intereting to watch and the Eurosport announces are way better with technical details on the machines, riders, and teams.

I can't wait to see the races.. I love WSBK, but World Superstock is just CRAZY!!! Those guys are over the edge all the time.

Cheers and thanks for posting the links. (when you do).

Here, they are going into this folder. It takes a while to upload into Google Drive, but the first race is already in there and the others should process in the next hour or so. I'll leave them in the folder for a week or so. Please keep this link for this forum only if you can.

If someone could confirm that you can see into the folder that would be nice. I am not the smartest guy on the planet sometimes.

The article does mention that Ducati didn't have the 1299 base available for them at the last minute, which is the one they were going to test, and so they used a privately owned 1299s for the comparison which they weren't planning to do.
