Must have modifications on a 1299s?

Why is that? Because I make a post about must have mods for a 1299s and I get a bunch of post about riding school and gear? So I have a little fun with it? This place is wound tightly. We would all just get some pumpkin spiced latte's and get this thread back on topic.

When folks made similar post like this on the other boards we steered them in the direction. On the latest R1 platform the brakes sucked, Mid range power is awful so the must have's were new pads, gearing change and a flash to get the bike to a pleasurable riding experience. I guess it was too much to ask? I saw similar post on the 1299 but this is also a different bike in some aspects.

Coming off of this guy.

Dont need riding gear with chicken strips !

Nice R1 and I agree on the must do mods on that R1. On the Duc I would recommend:

throttle spacers
tank pads
exhaust
air filter
tune/upmap
one up on the back sprocket

Did this to mine and it rides pretty smooth, the rest are cosmetics and tailoring the bike to your requirements.

I'm thinking +1 on the rear as well. Trying to dig up some threads on gearing. Picking the bike up on Saturday and it will have the Rexxes flash on it along with the comfort seat. I've been back and fourth on the exhaust. Hard to justify on the value side.

Thanks for the input.

How about a good skin graft surgeon and plenty of pain killers? :D

Been there, done that... no t shirt though. Crappy gift shop I guess.

I know someone that took a circular sander to his tyres to get rid of the chicken strips.

It was as sad as it was obvious.

best pound for pound mod for me was to change the rear sprocket for a couple more teeth. I went for the Pani R one + chain.

Throttle spacer kit

Tank gripping pads

Due to the reflectionon on the instrument display. Blacking out the steering dampener by painting black or adding a carbon cover. Putting black vinyl tape or spray painting the front of the triple clamp. No problem seeing my display now, for me a must mod.

Carbon fiber shock cover as the OEM plastic one flexes underneath your leg and hits the shock.

Competition works or similar tail tidy

New grips

Improve seat with lumimoto gel inserts or DP comfort seat

Agree on the exhaust! You could get full exhaust set ups on cars for the same price as the panis, which is ridiculous. I debated much about gearing and decided on +1. Once that was settled I went with an AEM set up and threeD chain. No regrets.

Nah, writing on the shoulder is gone on mine :) No steel wool though:cool:

Awesome. Would love to have roads out here that gave me that much time on the edge.

helmet, equipment post.

i think you got the point.

we also have a lounge. enjoy.

aside from that:
- tank grips
- precise tire pressure gauge
- pallet of red bull

have fun!

I did... No fun allowed!

All good stuff. I have a bunch of the renthal race grips. I like the old school cheapies. The gold cluster jumped out at me right away as something to change.

You aren't lying the Akrapovic for my X5m which consist of two turbo back systems and 4 carbon tips is not much more than the full system for this bike. Both are titanium. I have to imagine there is a larger demand for the Pani exhaust than the X5M.
