Got the carbon fiber cover installed! By loosening the exhaust manifold cover, and a friend lending a helping hand to get the zip ties out of the way, we were able to install it without lifting the tank. It was still a tight fit though. I feel at ease now knowing that the tank is protected from rocks and such. :p

I had my first track event on the SP a couple of days ago, and man what a blast! This bike is friggin awesome! So quick steering and also stable mid corner. I was very impressed with how it performed, though I did not push too hard given it was my first event of the year. Naturally there is a learning curve with a new bike, but I felt very comfortable on it straight away.

Since I'm still getting to know the bike I had the suspension set to dynamic mode, and felt it worked well for the pace I was running, which was a little bit slower than usual. I'm 100+ kg, so I had to add some compression damping, or brake support as it is referred to in the setup menu. Felt the rear get a bit loose under heavy braking but the forks didn't bottom out. Will probably get new springs when I've gotten more acquainted with the bike and get faster.

One thing I need to adress is the pegs. I have big feet and felt the standard DP Rizoma pegs were too short, and I didn't feel confident with my outside foot position and grip when hanging off. Anyone know if it's possible to get longer pegs that fit these rearsets? Would also prefer a fixed peg instead of folding ones.

After a few more trackdays I'm getting more comfortable pushing a bit more. Still getting acquainted with the new bike though so there's definitely a lot of unused potential.

At this point I can say that I'm very happy with the ergonomics. I'm 6'2" / 188 cm, and I'm very happy with the position of the clipons, seat shape and tank, although I guess the tank could be a bit more supportive for hanging off if I'm nitpicking. The Rizoma rearsets are a bit disappointing though. With size 46 boots I find that the pegs are just a little too short to get that solid footing that you need around the track. I'm open to suggestions, but I'm leaning towards replacing them with som Attak Performance rearsets. Those pegs look a fair amount longer and also a bit more adjustable.

Anyway, here's a few pictures from last time out:
