Just thinking, do the wheels in white (or gold) and remove the 'S' if possible. Then you would have something very unique and it wouldn't appear as if your just trying to mimic the Tricolore package/option.

Plus it would be lighter and outperform the Tri .

Falco -

Thanks for posting and the bike looks great! I would love to know the details around part, paint, costs, vendors, etc. I don't plan on replicating the Tri, but am talking with Milanno about designing something for my bike.

It's great as owners that we can all personalize our bikes based on likes, budgets, etc.

P.s. will be posting the radar / jamming install pics when I pick up the bike later tonight

BTW> what seat is that you have on the bike, it looks like it says 1199 in the saddle? Is it one of the luimoto covers?

I worked with the HTMoto guys on the design (carbon look, plus anti slip under the butt. Added the 1199 and the Italian flag)

Thanks LArider, you made my day. I was having second thoughts about posting the picture of my bike (which I like A LOT).

Boris out of Costa Mesa (I help a bit) did the paint, lay down the sticker set and clear coated. It is not cheap (around $2,500), but the job looks amazing in person!

Cannot remove the S. It is part of the sticker and have the clear coat on top

beautiful job you did there! keep up the good work!
Post more pictures of the bike.

First able, I love the look of the tricolore, but I could not afford the price tag.

Second able, I truly like the standard suspension. IMO it feels more planted (the front), when pushed hard.

So, we the help of some members, some creativity and trial and errors, I built my tricolore. I am planning to upgrade the wheels in the near future, but I kind of like the from fender in red (a bit more exotic)

Thoughts? (no haters please)

Very creative. I would keep the wheels as is as you have created a one off Ducati. I would not really care about upsetting other Tricolore owners as your working with a budget and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Hey, you got the value you want from your bike and I think your approach is very cool. Your bike turned my head.

Paint job looks good - but then it always would in the eye of a Tric owner :D

Its an interesting route to go and I'm surprised with the incremental costs, particularly for wheels, you didn't manage to sell yourself up into an S.

It was a close called, but I was not impressed with the Ohlins suspension. I was actually 10% faster (butt feeling) and more planted with the Marzocchi forks on the standard. So, why spend and additional $4K for something that I did want? (I do have the ABS thought)

Looks good! Do what makes you happy cause that's what matters.

If I was to buy wheels I would go with Marchesini wheels also or the is the option of BST carbon.

Guess I'm of a different mind than others. I've no problem with it. Base S Tricolore, don't see the big deal they're all 1199s, same engine performance, BUT he maybe lucky enough three or four years from now when the DES starts having issues of not having to spend a fortune to keep it functioning.

Unfortunately for me I'll be experiencing the same issues of the S owners on the mts GT I'm getting once it's out of warranty. ;) BUt at least my base pani suspension won't have issues.

You wont have any problems with the MTS GT suspension as its Sachs and not the crap ohlins

Falco - I think your bike looks great. I actually prefer the base wheels' design to the ones on the Tri but I guess they're not as light.

To heck with the haters, you've got a stunning looking bike that you're happy with. Good for you!

Very nice looking.
I have the Tri color myself and don't think it's a big deal if a guy with a base paints his.
Someone is perfectly happy with the base and the price but digs the paint scheme of the Tri.
Knock yourself out!

Can we stick to how nice the bike looks, and quit referring to non-existing "haters"? No one said they hated it, everybody liked it. Its a Tri with a red fender, which I myself prefer. :)
