Need Advice!!!

Thanks for all the advice, I think I have decided on the 1299 base. I am coming from a 2014 ZX6R and don't think I need a S model any time soon.Plus I really can't justify sending another 5k on a bike I already thought was close to perfection. I test rode the 1299 base and S model last week at Pro Italia in Glendale. Plus I like the idea of having a bike no one has ridden! Looks like I will be getting my 1299 base soon enough!!!

pick up your bike at proitalia, go straight up to ACH for initial break in. first 50 miles is most important, nothing beats some 50 miles twisties, no idling at stops. ask the guys there, they'll tell you the same thing.

Well it all comes down to what suits you best id say, the 1299 is heavier 390 vs 420punds, it has more torque 106.7 vs 99.0 ft-lbs, compression ratio: 13.20:1 vs 12.50:1 , hp 200 vs 205, standard traction and abs on 1299, full ohlins on the s models,

Im still a noob here on forum but i been around bikes, get what u think is easier to ride for you, what ever is easier for you to control, hope that helps,

My advice is to get cheaper version, because you can always upgrade ☺

Weight numbers are wrong, and horsepower numbers are also wrong! Please don't post inaccurate info.

With that being said, I was in the same position and went with the 1299. Are you financing? If so, you'll get a better rate by going new. 2 year warranty. Better electronics. I got my bike for $17,700 I believe...PM me if you have any questions...

I saw a post in this thread about getting the S over the base, and I have to agree with what was posted.

I bought the base and probably spent way more than I should have on various upgrades.

I would elect to get the 1299 new over a 1199 used though. The 1299 is a tick improvement. Nothing revolutionary as going from a 1098 to an 1199, but it is a step up.

well, $5k for electronic Ohlins and forged wheels isn't a bad deal. They throw in LED lights too :)

the 1199 didn't quite impress me enough to spring for it, or to switch over from my decade-long loyalty to BMW. The 1299 did, hands down.

which one weight 390?

1199 is lighter. Not sure where they distributed the weight on 1299, but from what i read id go with 1299, even tho it might be 40 pounds heavier but it might be easier to ride. I gotta upgrade,

You are wrong; why must you insist?

Please substantiate that bikes have different weights...and make sure you're comparing dry weight to dry weight or wet to wet.

Are there any brand new 1199S models in your area left?

Major discount, and get an S model.

The 1199S and the 1299S weights are near identical!! Where are you coming up with this stuff?
