Need help with rear break.

I barely use rear brakes other than for holding bike still at intersections and for rear wheel removal. Even if you repair with all new components the brakes aren't going to be very effective by design on a sport bike. I would repair only to the point that it functions without being dangerous to yourself or others.
 
If the caliper is OK, you can surface grind the scraped pistons and rotor within spec, depending on how much thickness is left over.
 
The amount of time and money to properly machine them, would cost more than simply buying new ones. Once again properly, not some backyard hack
 
get a second hand calliper from Ebay......most ducati since the 916 will fit.......
 
Save money turn the disk yourself. Put the bike on the stand, mount your die grinder on the swingarm. Fire the motor off put it in gear turn the die grinder on (use a new stone). cycle grinder across the disk a few times. MacGiver would be proud. I think that caliper is common to a lot of ducati's as is the disk. Should be cheap.
 
What grit stone is the best? Or start with a course one and then a smooth one?
 
For god sake just get a disc and a calliper from eBay…. Even the disc on the complete spindle … be far cheaper than all that malarkey!
 
Save weight and money, dont bother with a rear brake just carry a bit of string with a rock tied to it and chuck it overboard when you need to "back 'er in"
 
due to physical disability...i have not used a rear brake on a motorcycle since 2003....I'm plenty fast without it...if anything since i have to use front 100% its made me better at hard braking...

Well i only have mental disabilities and i don't use the rear brake either. I looked at the pad retaining pin on the rear caliper and it is c clip with a little handle to grab with needle nose pliers. Might be a good idea to safety wire instead.

The IMU already has the bike hog tied, all 6 axis are locked down, no need for the ABS. Fool delete
