Hello everyone, new to the forum and joined to learn more about 2 valve Ducatis and other models. I recently have begun to ride less and have sold all of my bikes. I am in the process of searching for a final bike as a base to build and have decided it will be a Ducati. So, I have joined the forum to talk more with other members about their bikes, best models, mechanical experiences, and such. I am in the Gulf Coast area in the U.S., and travel throughout the U.S. very often.
My earliest bikes were twins; thus, I suppose I have come full circle in my choice to pursue a Ducati. It’s the Trellis frame and that 90-degree Desmo engine that won so many over, including me I suppose. There is no engine out there with the same characteristics. It’s a brilliant performer, and no it won’t have 200 hp, but that's not what Ducati is about to me. It's a certain feeling that other bikes couldn't capture. You have grunt out of corners: You dip the bike in, you clip the apex, feed the throttle, and it makes you smile. It’s how these engines make power...
Now they have traction control, ABS, automatic electronic suspension and more. It's a more complicated bike. It doesn’t add to the fun factor for me. I'm looking to find the best of the really well loved and engineered of Ducati bikes, something special. And make it lighter and stronger with a two-valve engine and less electronics, so the design is much cleaner. I think the forums are where that love and knowledge lies...
