A Russian startup is developing an HUD helmet. It looks pretty nice from the pictures & video:

Assuming they are able to ship the product, the helmets will be in CF and will cost about $2000. They are currently trying to raise about $150k. You can read more about them and support them if you like the idea at the link below:

This will come one day....But not from Russia...Not exactly known for their high tech. are they???

I don't care how fast I'm going, I just want my Valentine display and tach!

I don't like any unnecessary visual distractions while riding. The engine sound will tell me RPM, never mind the speed and my audible alarm for the Escort will tell me when to slow down.
Nice if you like gadgets though:D

Your kidding right: ongoing space program in support of the ISS, missile technology and regardless of what people may say, state of the art fighters etc et al.

I agree, target fixation could be a definite issue, but if like an HUD, information could can be filtered and subdued visually. I like the idea and a basic built in Sat Nav amongst others things would be great.

I think that this will be the normal in 3-5 years, target fixation could be an issue but think of some things that could come from this, imagine it plotting a line around a track for you and posting lap times. It could be a useful tool

I'll pass. One of the things I love most about riding a motorcycle is that it's not like driving a car. Pretty much every new car these days has GPS, and blue tooth, and pandora, and youtube, and twitter, and facebook, and blahblahblah. When I put on my helmet, and start my engine, I'm going out for the experience of riding, just me and the bike and whomever I'm riding with that day.

Having been an 'active participent' during the cold war, I can assure you that their technology was more robust an advanced than many people give them credit for. I would suspect that even today given the fact (as mentioned earlier) their participation in missions to the ISS indicate that they are still on the ball (or there abouts anyway).

Look at the paragraph titled 'History' in this link for the origins of this kind of technology!

I would be all up for having the option of seeing a speedo and camera warning in my eye-line for weekend blasts, and to have the option of navigation guidance for longer tours into the unknown - great idea in my view. After having HUD in a car, i' can see how useful it is.
