New Rage Cycles fender eliminator

Has anyone noticed that NRC has two different styles of this FE shown on their website.

First noticable difference is per the OP's picture, where the LED's are taped on, versus NRC's shown "screwed on LED" version.

Second, I noticed that the OP's picture shows a flat transition of the metal between the LED's, versus NRC showing a taper to match the tail end.

I'm just wondering if there are different versions of this kit...

Ducati 1199 Panigale Fender Eliminator Kit

Yup, they changed it. I have both models now. The first one with the entire unit in Lexan, and the second ten with the body in metal and wider LED units.

@NOLA, thanks for the response. So what is picture on their website and above, is the latest iteration? Could you give a brief comparison between the two? I'm about to the pull the trigger on the purchase. Thanks!

No prob. I really like it. AND you can see it in traffic :)

The first iteration was all Lexan as I said. the HUGE pro was being able to see the lights in daytime. The complete ........ Competition Werkes unit had the annoying LED that stayed on for 30 min after the bike was turned off, and could not be seen in the daytime (Problematic in come states/countries where it was needed for a inspection tag). The con was that the adhesive tape on the top of the LED's peeled off (Fixed when they sent me the new super adhesive 3m tape), and that the fitment was not all the way flush against the tail.

Second iteration, I have in hand but not on bike yet. I did a mockup and it fits completely tight and can still be taped up. Its metal and has taller LED's that are screwed in. I read someone here post that they would have preferred the more slim LED's, but I can't say I have a preference. I just like a tight fit. :D

Overall they make a way better alternative to what else is on the market. And their customer service is very very good. When I made a comment on a part they realized its shortcomings and fixed it, and then sent me the new part for free.

I'd buy it again.

Hope this helps.

Just installed the kit. Easy and straight forward. The only concern is how well the tape holds it in place. Anyone have any updates?? I know there is one screw but not sure how durable it will be in the future

I have the original version (Lexan vs Metal), and my tape sucked. They sent me the better 3M heavy duty tape. Your version is better. I used a black sharpie and put a small witness mark on the bolt that holds it in, and it hasn't counterrotated even a little bit.

Any issue with blinking fast or should I get the load equalizer?

What do you guys think?

I installed mine without resistors and blinks just as fast as it did with the OEM stalk. I didn't need a load balancer or resistors or anything of the sort :).

would just like to add my 2 cents.. or 1 clear picture from the moto show.. they were really bright.. if i never went 2 up on this bike these would be the best choice..

They make an adapter now for the plate to be mounted along with the passenger pegs.

You know, I was feeling geeky today so not only did I make a video for you/us, but I learned how to censor license plates using After Effects.

This took way too much time for such a short video haha!

Hope this helps!!

I censored my license plate with a piece of masking tape, took five seconds :)

Justin at NRC said the following:

1 - We supply mounting hardware for the passenger peg bracket so you can mount it if you like with no issues. The strip of LED hasn't changed from this new version to the last. We just made the poly thicker - from 1/4" to 3/8" so we widened the housing 1/4"...so it's not much thicker. It just makes it so the LED strip is completely locked into the plastic.

2 - They will flash slightly faster than stock, but both front and rear will flash this way. If you want to slow down the flash, you can install a load equalizer which is an option when you buy this kit on our site, but it is completely optional.

3 - The front and rear will flash at the same rate, but a load equalizer will slow it down.

4 - The tri-star will make it a run / turn / brake. This module is an option for all turn signals, but unnecessary for the 1199 because we are not removing or modifying the stock brake light. You may, however turn the kit into a secondary brake light if you wish.

So, it looks like I will be getting this by the weekend, best looking fender eliminator that doesn't rely on stalks sticking out the back, and is very minimal IMO. Not to mention you can actually see the thing lights during the day.
