Has anyone tried to install the new carbonfiber heat shield for the Termi on a stock exhaust? I know they are slightly different and the Termi is wider...

the information on the NEW CF heat shield is not accurate. It does fit. Not only have i seen it in person i have it.

he had to do something wrong. its the same heat shield with a carbon top. maybe he didnt have the metal heat shield under it i dont know. i can tell you the old CF heat shield worked too. mine got destroyed when the screws fell out and it actually layed on the pipe. actually it just discolored i was impressed with how it held up laying on the pipe for an hour lol

here are the pics. I didnt want to post them cause they arent my bike but my friend duc1199 said post them up (couldnt do it from his phone.) he had it done first as i thought like everyone else it couldnt be done. here is the proof. as you can see its the stock pipe and as you can see it never touches the pipe.

Nice. Thanks for the info and pics! I've also heard that it doesn't fit and can't belive it. Just was wondering how much modifying I was gonna have to do. Figured id ask if anyone had tried. So your saying he put it over the stock heat shield??

NO the new heat shield is 2 pieces for the header. a metal one that blocks which is an aluminum color and a cover which is either standard or cf. as you can see from the pics there is a shield before the carbon one. the standard or cf heat shield goes over the initial metal one

its bigger (wider to acomidate the larger pipe which we dont have) so does the standard pipe fit. answer is yes. is there more space than there would be with the termi pipe yes. so technically i guess it doesnt fit. IMO thats like you buying a shirt a size to large. it doesnt fit cause its big but it can be worn no problem. so it fits.

bottom line is whoever tells you that you cant have the cf termi heat shield with the standard pipe is 100% wrong. i dont care if he is the best ducati tech ever. i dont care if he built the termi himself. IT FITS. most people have been conditioned to believe it doesnt fit. this is either by hearing that it doesnt fit 1000 times on here and from their dealer or by just assuming because they never actually worked on their bike. most people just ride and say if ducati says it it must be true.

i also know someone on this forum no matter what i say, show, or how many pictures i post will say it doesnt fit. thats what this forum has become so if you want to think it doesnt fit be my guest. to cobra and trans (who saw some guy not have a clue) if its done correctly it works fine.

JUst going off what I saw :D. Why not look at a CF one for the stock header? I doubt it's much cheaper than the Ilmberger.

Thanks for all that info. I'm stubborn and I couldn't belive it wouldn't fit. Even if I had to do a lil customization. I already have one on the way, but out of curiosity I asked here if anyone had done it. Hoping to get it done in time for Indy. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks again.

So the question is, how the .... does one acquire this heatshield without buying the full Termis?

i do know this. the shield is over 400 bucks in cf. and since its not the recall shield you have to pay for install. thats about 2 more hours so thats min 600 depending on your stealership
