Hey guys - just had to post up a couple of pics of my "new" 2012 Tricolore! I had been looking since this past March when I got rid of the Base (back to DNA - CA Lemmon law).

It's looks soo much better in person, and I have to give a shout out to Gunny, Caliduc, Mark419ny, TKO and EvoL for posting up on their Tri's. I purchased the bike from a collector in San Diego for $20,800 and it only had 67 miles. I put all the DP carbon goodies on and swapped the S wheels for R wheels (thanks to TKO). Also put the R seat and clutch cover on, as the stock seat is terrible. Still have to add my overpriced Passport Escort 8550 Plus radar / jammer, but will do that before riding up to Laguna next month for the World Superbike.

Note: I'll be putting the "as new" S wheels, along with some other items parts on the board later this weekend.

First real ride will be Saturday to Newcomb's ranch and can't wait.....Cheers!

Congratulations. The tri-color is lovely. Time to expose my ignorance here. I have the R model. I was under the impression the wheels on my R are identical to those on the S (forged Marchesini w/"chicken feet" spokes). What's the difference?

Same question regarding the saddle. Mine's slippery as snot so I ordered a DP "racing" seat hoping it'll have better grip.

Congratulations on a beautiful bike. The Dragon Lady feels a bit left out though as she is also a Tricolore.

What is the difference between the "S" and "R" wheels?

That is such a sick bike.. 21k for an new bike is a real score. Lots of luck with it.. post more pics please. When I saw a tri in person I almost switched and got that one but I really liked the Barr aluminum look of the R and ended up getting that.

As for the wheels question.. isn't the R wheel a tad bit lighter or something?

radar detector/jammer on a sportbike? does that work? if so, how? Between the noise and the excessive speed I would imagine it does too little/too late, not to mention it's unclear to me how it would effectively communicate (when you are anywhere NEAR wide open throttle on a highway, are you really looking down at your dash?)

The S and the R wheels are exactly the same.

People with R's just like pointing out they came off an R so I guess you get the feel they're worth more coming off a more expensive bike? So pretty much you switched out wheels for the same wheels.

i run mine on the top left of the front fairing, with 1 headphone in the left ear.
with earplugs and my mot*@#$^%^ing loud exhaust, i still hear it very well.

and it works.

Very nice, not a bad upgrade ;). I think I may wait another yr and find a slightly used Tri as well. Congrats.

Congrats on the new bike. Someone is having a lend of you though with the S and the R wheels .........

One more pic to share - and appreciate the comments! I could have gotten an R for $27,500 but couldn't pass on the Tri as it's such a beautiful bike.

As someone said the wheels on the S and the same as the R - just no wheel stripe. I think EvoL did his Tri perfectly and I missed buying it buy a day so I had a good idea do what I wanted to do with the build.

my opinion tri>R i see Rs all over the place. to this day i have only seen 1 tri on the road and that doesnt count because it is gunnys bike.

I saw a Tricolore roll by me in Manhattan (in the West Village, heading up 6th ave) early afternoon last Saturday... so SOMEBODY here has to have one (or was making a curious "tour" through Manhattan for some awful reason)
