Nicky Hayden Fired....

Yay! Then the 1199 will be like the Porsche 993, the last "true" Ducati Superbike. Hopefully values will increase because what I've seen used 1199's go for recently is quite sad...

You can buy mine when I upgrade to the 4 that produces 250 bhp and doesn't go above 175F in traffic. :)

Agreed, Ducaudi probably wants Bradl so they can stop the shiza in die lederhosen after every race. :D

Isn't Bradl a German....? NICHT LEDERHOSEN!

Definitely fan of Nicky. I hope to see him in WSBK. I just dont see him getting a bike in the MotoGP...I mean... we saw this coming eventually.

So on one hand Nicky has nothing to work for and might drop further in the standings.

Or will he take the other approach and let it all hang out to get another sponsership?

That's a good question. Risking being ambulatory every weekend while fighting with CRT's can't be very motivating. He already has offers and they know how hard he works. Then again, he made his reputation as a fighter by not giving up on the Ducati, not matter how bad it got. So if he's negotiating for a new jobs, maybe he has to keep that up?

Hayden has been a has been for a long time. He has done nothing since he has been at Ducati. Even less than Rossi did....

Stoner would never come back. You're dreamin if you think thats possible.

Crutchlow? He's beating Rossi on a Tech 3, so why would he go to a bike that Rossi couldn't ride? All he has to do is sit tight, keep performing and a team ride with Honda or Yamaha will present.

Too many riders have gone out the door backwards making decisons to go to a second or third tier factory team simply because it was a 'factory' team. Chris Vermeulen is a good example of that. He was never going to be competitive on a Suzuki, but was impatient and didnt wait for a better offer!

Anyone they could potentially attract would only be already in the mid field and couldnt hope to be a front runner.

no! If you consider a 993 as the last true porsche than the 1198 would be the last true duc!!!

Some would say the 750 F1 is actually the last "true" Ducati although I'm not sure what all this trueness is anyway..

Love the twins but would also love to see Ducati make a V4 streetbike that's less exclusive than the Desmosedici!!

From what one can see from the outside Nicki has not helped the Racing efforts of the company progress. I can't say why but it seems like you can safely say that this is the case..He is liked very much but not because of the results he brings in..I hope he finds his way and becomes more competitive wherever that may be..

I think it's a bit unfair to say Nicky has done nothing, I don't think Nicky, Rossi, Andrea, Andrea#2, Spies, or anyone on the bike has done "nothing". It's not like it's completely up to the rider how the bike changes and progresses. Nicky is not an engineer, all he does is ride the bike and tell the engineers how it feels and what needs to be improved. The engineers are the morons who will choose to do things like narrow down their list of optional changes to not include things they've never done before or that don't fit with Ducati's uniqueness.

In fact, I'd be willing to bet no one has done MORE for Ducati than Nicky. I wonder how much farther behind the factory would be without him. Then people point out his performance, and how up and down it is, but they don't put themselves in his shoes. Imagine being a world champion, then moving to a new factory team and struggling to be competitive for this long. It's got to have quite an effect on a riders mentality.

As much as I'd like to see Nicky riding a Pani in WSBK, I feel for him and his desire to stay in MotoGP. That's why I hope something comes through for him. On another note, if I was Suzuki, looking for potential riders, and 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden's calender just opened up, I'd be all over that like white on rice. ;)

Fired. He mentions in the article being sacked and calling it "Ducati's decision".

+1 on this for sure. Unless he can't scrape enough pounds together to go get himself a proper cup of tea and some biscuits I'd avoid Ducati at all costs since he is riding so well at the moment. I think he'll be a contender on the Honda or Yamaha, but the Duc will sink him, IMHO.

Not being on the paddock or part of the team it's all speculation...Perhaps my wording wasn't the best. Let's just say that from this outsiders perspective it seems like it's been years since a rider joined the stable through whom the thing that is Ducati Corse has managed to progress..

Suzuki would do well to get in contact with him.

Suzuki confirmed a couple weeks ago that they won't be back until the 2015 MotoGP season. So Nicky could stay in GP and probably get a decent 7-figure contract to be their development rider for 2014 and race it in 2015.

Interestingly enough, Rossi's contract ends at the end of 2014 and he is supposedly on the short list for Suzuki. Especially if he doesn't light the world on fire in the rest of 2013-2014 he likely won't have anywhere to go either, except down to SBK.

What an interesting pair that would be to re-launch Suzuki MotoGP, on supposedly a crossplane-crank engine? Hmmm.

Meanwhile BMW has supposedly made the biggest-money offer to Hayden, which makes the most sense. BMW has had long enough and the bikes are as developed as this platform is likely to get, so he actually could be their best hope. Compared to how poorly Melandri did on his way out of MotoGP on the Ducati while Nicky has stayed mid-pack, logic would dictate that Nicky should do better on the HP4/S1KRR in SBK. Big Hmmmmm.

Silly season is fun when work is so boring....

That was pretty much my thought when I posted that comment. Nicky is a workhorse and can turn out crazy amounts of laps. If he jumps on the Suzuki train, he can develop the bike as he sees fit for an entire year then return to racing with them in 2015.
