RIP Nicky...sad and tragic day...you will be missed by all on and off the grid. One of the first racers I followed back in the AMA days...:(

Not the news i wanted to wake up to. He lived and died on what he loved... 2 wheels. RIP mate!

Absolutely gutted to hear the news today. A truly charismatic, humble and talented racer. RIP Nicky.

Rip Nickey!!

My chest literally hurts. I don't wanna believe it. You will be missed Nickey!

check out a clip of what Tommy his brother had to say. Really liked this.

Tommy Hayden: "Although this is obviously a sad time, we would like everyone to remember Nicky at his happiest - riding a motorcycle. He dreamed as a kid of being a pro rider and not only achieved that but also managed to reach the pinnacle of his chosen sport in becoming World Champion. We are all so proud of that."

god damn it dude seriously is somebody cutting onions in here or what. if that doesn't bring a tear to your eye i dont know what is wrong with you

This bummed me out today. We're the same age and I literally started getting in to bicycling again this year. Sticking to trails, like other have said. Followed him since before I could get my own first motorcycle. Was hoping to actually be able to meet him at a race to check off the bucket list. Sadly, it will be left unchecked forever. RIP Nicky

I just started following him again from being away from the sport, on his MotoGP Journey - with a heavy heart I now have to say goodbye. He will be missed. Off on another journey for sure - RIP #69

Rest in peace, Nicky. Condolences to his family and fiancee. A true ambassador to the sport, particularly here in the US.
