Not that impressed

Looking back, during my run in on stock 1299S it was a bit slow.....
Compared to my now 3000 mile 1299S + full Akra + Tuneboy on 100% throttle map

Enjoy the run in period and be prepared for it if you go for the tune + exhaust route.

Heck I'm thinking about that 15+41T now, just gotta learn my wheelies a bit more :D

Chris is correct, The base 1299 comes with a 39 tooth rear, You said you were +2 on your 1199, so that was a 41T rear. Big difference. The new 1299 has power everywhere.

My 1199 had 41T , I took the 1299 out on a test and was disappointed preferred the 1199. Thanks, I understand why, now!

I felt the same way when I got mine. It is very sluggish for the first 300 miles. The motor really loosens up. Just keep breaking it in. The .... eating grin will come. Trust me.

Reminds me of my first week in prison when all the toilets were being occupied and Arse had to go #2 real badly:(

I have been having the same issues on my 1299S It is a fine motorcycle but just not what it was hyped up to be.. Mine runs pretty flat from 4000 to 8000 rpm had it Dynoed and it put out 176 at the rear wheel (using the Ducati protocol of disconnecting the speed sensor wire) However the low to midrange torque was just disappointing instead of steadily gaining or even staying relatively flat it had a pretty big dip between 5500 to 7000 rpm.. ! BTW This is with the Ducati Issue Akropovic slipons and the 1299 up map! It is back at the dealer for about the 8th time now and they are still trying to figure out why it will have the throttle stick open for about a half second when coming up to a light..You can roll off the throttle and it will stay on for about 1/2 second then suddenly cut off Very upsetting if you are trying to smoothly go around a corner..LOL

I absolutely love the bike (and it's bicycle like handling) but as far as being a fast bike, so far my old 2011 ZX10 would run off and leave it at the track coming out of corners..:(

Hopefully it will eventually get worked out I am going to try to ad the Rapid Bike Racing module and see if it will tune itself better than what the Ducati guys can.
Personally I think that the Ducati factory really screws us by making it so hard to add aftermarket exhaust's etc. Because of their ECU programming .. From what I have read even if you get a PC-5 or Bazzaz to remap it the factory ECU re adjusts it back !!
Only the Rapid Bike module actually gets around that issue and actually works with the stock Lambda sensors.. That is what from what I have read on their site and been told. So it will be another $875 for the unit but I have over $30K invested now so what 's another grand right? This is getting ridiculous.. I cold have had TWO new R1's for what I have invested in this bike. Or the R1-M and a lot of cash left over to further modify it..LOL

But even then It would not be as sexy It just would not be the same as the Ducati. Even the older Duc's are cool and get attention.. three years from now the new R 1 will be just another Jap bike that everyone and their cousin owns.. But the Ducati will stil get the looks and have the status..

Oh well I feel better now after I whined about it a little again..

Evidently some of us are getting problem bikes and they aren't all the beasts everyone seems to be claiming they are.. Bummer..

176 with slip-ons, yikes. Mine made 192 with slip-ons and air filter, and that's with the AFR all over the place. Final mapping session got delayed a week due to my work schedule, but we're hoping for 200hp/100tq at the wheel.

but even now, it still feels plenty linear, but that's also with a 520 chain swap running 15/41 gearing.

Speedy it sounds like you are having a high idle issue like myself and Antihero had on our 1199s.... Both my shop couldn't figure out what it was and I don't think Dennis got a clear answer of why his was doing it. I ended up selling mine after they said they fixed it and he traded his in. Which is bull ..... I know they replaced a boat load of parts on his.

Hope they figure yours out quick. That's delayed idle was pissing me off.

Sorry to hear you're having that problem.

Seriously have to dissagree with you on this. I had a fully supped up zx10 before the 1299s. The 1299s stock pulls so much harder down low and in the midrange that it's not even close. While I loved my Zx-10, even up 3 teeth at the rear it's no where near the 1299s. This bike has a stronger pull than any I have ridden so far. Granted I did not ride the h2 yet but even the bmw s1000rr doesn't come close down low and midrange. I'll agree that past 8k they all pull very hard and maybe bmw feels stronger but your splitting hairs at that point.

I think the 1299s was under hyped in my opinion. And I am sorry the R1 is the ugliest bike ever made and that triple clamp belongs on a hyosung bike for gods sake

He's been having issues with his bike, not sure if you read his other posts. Someone has to sort it out, or speedy.... Let your dealer take a demo 1299 out and see if you feel the same way about it...

You sure you didn't pick this one up?!
