Is anyone that visits this forum running one? Curious about pitting. Saw pix of some gears Nova broached and they did not look like any micro polished billet gears I have ever ran.

I love the ratio’s they chose but not sure about the tooth count. We always had better luck using less teeth. I guess to get the gear to gear ratio that good one would be forced to use higher number of teeth

Anyone running one and willing to post about how they hold up?

Thx

Check out the "road vs race" in their web page. The address tooth count a little bit and why they went with what they did. Not sure if it answers your exact question but apparently some rule in some race circuits have specific requirements .

I have a couple of the Nova CR gear boxes (new) and 2 RS16 sets. If your thinking about the Nova, it’s the rolex of gear boxes and the guys at Nova are top notch. I would caution buying anything used unless you have a way of checking it. Unlike the more mechanic friendly brands who opted for cassette gear boxes the geniuses at Ducati thought it was a fun idea to completely tear down the motor to get to the gearbox so a failure of any sort is somewhat costly. The used RS16 gear sets I have came with the motors but I would not have purchased them separately. The Nova box with the RS gear box parts, strain gauge shifter and a good bearing supported rearset and you’re good to go.

I guess some of their earlier tranny’s had bushings for the gears that are not splined? I read somewhere that they eventually went to needle bearings so that might be another reason to stay away from used? I am skeptical of any used internal engine parts really. Used engine parts outta a race motor have often been used up. My current R engine combo would love the splits and the tall low gear but my big motor will prolly work better with the factory production ratios. It is a lot of work splitting cases. It’s a lot of work just removing the bike from the engine so that the cases can be split!

Yes I have no idea what he is trying to accomplish

Lower than stock ratios in gears 1-2-3 wtf

My junk was outta control in those gears from the gate

This is what I think the 1198cc Ti rod motor wants:

I don't think anything is getting accomplished here other then just a bunch of jibber jabbing. Have Aruba or one of the other teams send the data on rpm/speed with the closed ratio numbers wont look anything like them charts.

You asked a question, I answered and you don’t have the rest of the data on what’s in the gear box. And Another outstanding posts from DucatiKev.a true asset to the board.

I am not trying to accomplish the same thing they were and my motor does not operate in the same rpm range as theirs did back when they used the twin so that data would be meaningless to me

Well it surely would not look like Ed’s or the stock one. But their crank spun 1.767 times to spin their input shaft once, just like mine does... And Nova does not offer different ratios. Want close ratio trans? These are the ratios they offer. I don’t know what the rollout of that teams rear tire was but I know what mine is

Jibber jabber? I am considering spending $3k and splitting my cases to install one of these units. Thought if I put post here I might get some good feed back. Guess not...

Are you suggesting you are not running std primary ratio? The only way 15/41 gearing would work with that trans is if you went to 1.5:1 primary and if anything I want the input shaft to spin slower, not faster, so I really doubt anyone makes that combo

You don’t know me from Adam. I mighta paid someone a bunch of money to build me a bike, and someone else a bunch more to follow me around and tune it, and never won .... because I can’t ride. Or maybe I built tuned AND rode bikes to multiple championships. You don’t know. Just like you don’t know what I’m working on now or what will be next

Bike builders?

Ok...
