Not a Rosi fan. I am a fan of Marc, but Rosi looked good to me?

He bated Marc several times and he still won showing maturity but could of gone eather way.

Rossi will be on the podium at COTA, cause he has a new hot girlfriend!! Case closed!!

every athlete in the history of the world that has a hot girlfriend went down faster than a hooker at the bunny ranch.

that will cement rossis demise.

and the good-looking girlfriend is for show we all know that. he has the g-hey. not that there is anything wrong with that

i enjoy the debate as eleven 99 says to be continued at cota. 17 more races too

that was the most interesting motogp weekend that I've seen in a while. even practice was interesting.

Some great discussion and, like veck just mentioned, that was a very intriguing opening weekend with great storylines, fantastic riding, and phenomenal racing. I think MotoGP fans got enough to keep them hooked until COTA.

Also, be sure to check back on this thread the week of each race weekend as we will be starting a little friendly forum competition of MotoGP Over/Under to make things even more interesting.

I agree with Veck. I hope the whole season is on the edge until the finish line. Pulling for the other two podium spots gets old.

...and hoping that Ducati finishes top 10 is getting really old. AUDI get your .... together!

WOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO GLAD IT'S RACING SEASON AGAIN!!!!!!!!

What an awesome race!!! Best MotoGP race I've seen since I started watching in 2012! It was even more enjoyable and competitive than the Moto2 race, which is super rare!!!

I knew you'd all (especially Mark) be talking about Rossi and Marc hahaha! I think they both looked great but Mark is right, Rossi did the same thing last year, and although his comments on the bike progress are hopeful, we won't really know until COTA and beyond if he has really made steps to be competitive with the Spaniards for the season. That being said, there is something to be said for not crashing as well. It doesn't matter how much you blaze it up in a few turns if you don't make it to the finish line! That just shows lack of skill! So congrats to those who stayed in the race, and may those who crashed get their heads on straight for the next race and give us an even better show! How awesome if Maniac Joe can actually hold that pace on the Ducati, or Aleix Espargaro can do in the race what he did in practice! It's gonna be exciting!!!

Aside from all that, can we talk about Tiny Tim (Dani Pedrosa) for a moment please?

My dear friends, am I the only one who has noticed a change in the young lad? A bit of a sparkle in his eye this year? Bare with me: I've only been watching MotoGP since the beginning of the 2012 season, but even I can tell you if there is one defining characteristic about Dani Pedrosa, it's this: he is just unpleasant. He always looks and acts like he hates the world, he doesn't want to be talking to you, he gives very short, snarky comments and feedback to reporters, ect. I think there was even an article written on him sometime last year about how he is just a complete ass/jerk/douche. As someone who has watched countless interviews and press conferences with him, I think I can confirm this as well. I'm kind of glad he hasn't won a championship because who wants that kind of depressing spokesman at the top of their sport??

But ever since the pre-season tests, the young man seems entirely different. Did he have a come to Jesus moment?? (metaphorically, although if he really has I'm fully in support). In fact I'm really wondering if Dani Pedrosa had a revelation during the off season. I think maybe it was something along these lines: I've been racing in MotoGP forever and a day, and I've been the unluckiest racer alive. I'm the most successful MotoGP race never to win the championship. All of a sudden I have boy wonder as my teammate who is killing it, and everybody loves him. There is a good chance that Honda won't hold on to me after my contract is up too, because I haven't succeeded in so long. I've done every thing I can think of to get the win but I just can't clinch it! What is the difference between me and the rest of the top guys in the championship who have become world champions?? OH WAIT, THERE NOT TOTAL JERKS! They're actually LIKEABLE characters who HAVE FUN and JOKE AROUND and are PLEASANT to be around and interview!!! *LIGHT BULB*

All of a sudden we see Dani Pedrosa joking around at pre-season tests, he's smiling and making jokes in interviews and at press conferences......my friends, I believe this is Dani's last ditch effort to take a championship. Rossi changed the only variable he could to possibly improve - his crew chief. Dani has also changed the one variable he hasn't tried - his attitude.

So interesting!!!!!!!!!!! :D

....anyone with me? or am I crazy?

This. It's a contract year if I'm not mistaken.

Ding ding ding ding! This is true! Every factory rider is up on contract at the end of this season, save maybe 1 person - I can't remember if Cal's contract was 1 or 2 years with Ducati, in case he hated life on the Ducati and wanted a possible out to Suzuki or something...

"in case" lol. I like how he left that POS propped up against the fence and walked away in disgust.

There's a lot going on with Pedrosa. Long story short, he was mentored and shepherded his whole career (most of his life) by an ex-racer and first class A-hole named Alberto Puig. Puig had a lot of power in the Honda team because of Dani's potential as a MotoGP champion from the right country - Spain. All of this came to a head this past off season with Puig getting majorly pushed-out of the team and out of Dani's life. This is likely the cause of his new attitude, as he's like a girl was in convent school for most of her life and just went to a party school like U of F or Arizona State. Will be interesting to see if this makes or breaks him, I agree this is his last chance with the Honda factory. If he doesn't come in a strong second in the championship to Marquez in 2014, he'll be looking for his first new team since starting in MotoGP in 2006.

Look up Pedrosa and Puig on Superbikeplanet.com, Dean Adams has documented this relationship several times.

ok here is the low down on what jeff d was talking about. I just finished stoners book. (I know but this is very interesting) casey said that danni is very talented however he also said that puig babied him and was never tough on him. casey mark jlo all had their parents in their corner and father as their mentor. nobody tells you how it is and gives it to you straight like your father. also nobody is as hard on you as your father. so casey believes that puig is the reason that dani hasn't won. go figure.

the contract stuff is correct danni is up. funny thing is if casey didn't retire danni would have been out last year. MM was coming no matter what and stoner came in third missing a bunch of races after the crash at indy (if that didn't happen i believe he would have won the championship not JLO) . all that would matter at this point is 3rd and beyond as either MM or stoner would be 1 and 2.

Rossi: If this season goes like last season (so far so good) he will likely decide to hang up his boots opening a spot on the Yamaha team.

Pedrosa: If he doesn't at least get second place in the championship, will Honda really send him packing? He has a history of consistently strong finishes. Usually on the podium each race and usually in the hunt for a championship toward the end of the season. They'd have to get Lorenzo to take his ride in order to have someone that does any better than Pedrosa. Not a likely scenario. That said, Lorenzo had a DNF and if MM grenades at any point this year Pedrosa could take the championship.

Honda: Letting Pedrosa go would likely send him into the loving arms of Yamaha, provided there's a ride available. Rossi's? He'd be a threat to Honda at Yamaha. If Honda doesn't mind losing a spot on the podium to a Yamaha maybe they should roll the dice on another rider. Steffan B. riding really well. He'd be a likely candidate to ride for Honda in place of Pedrosa. Sounds like a poor risk to me.

MM: He's unstoppable right now. He just needs to make sure he finishes races and stays healthy. He is his own threat. I worry that he will try to ride above the capability of the bike/tires/conditions and wind up hurt. If he keeps it shinny side up he will win another championship. Easy.

Jorge: He can play the spoiler roll for Pedrosa. He also is the guy to beat for MM. All he has to do is keep grinding out fast smooth laps the way he does and he'll be in the hunt for another championship. Though it will take some mistakes by MM to open the door for him. He's at an early disadvantage with his first race DNF but others will DNS/DNF and he would have to stay consistent in order to catch up.

I agree with most of your analysis. Esp the part about the championship being MM's to lose.

For those who have the MotoGP pass, they just posted the Qatar race footage from the OnBoard point of view. Other than the fantastic live race coverage, the onboard footage was my favorite part of the MotoGP pass last season. No commentary, no distractions, just extreme lean angles, the sound of roaring engines, and wheel to wheel action throughout.
