I'm already signed up for Saturday SEP 23rd with Trackexperience. A new surface will be EPIC and hopefull attract WERA or CRA to hold racing rounds there.
I have (unreliable) info that that same company who just did Laguna (Granite Construction) is doing the job, which seems great, but that the job will span two years (turns 1-6 now in August, and the rest the following year). This is my favorite track and I'm very happy that improvements are being planned!

That would make for some interesting tire management strategies, the Laguna Seca surface is apparently VERY grippy and smooth, so transitioning from that to the rough surface might be like high speed supermoto haha

But if I do 5 track weekends in a row my wife will make me decide between sex and track days 😂😂😂

My favorite org is SoCal Trackdays because of that open track no sessions format, because I can go out, do 5 to 7 Laos working on one thing or part of the track, come in rest for 10 minutes without even putting the tire warmers on, go back out for another 5 to 7 laps working on a different thing or track section, and just do that all day…seems to be a good recipe for my stage of rider development

How do they manage traffic? If 100 riders are signed up for the day, can they all be out during the same open session?

It is pretty limited participation, not sure what the cap is but never felt like more crowded than the typical track day. Saturday can be a bit of .... show but by noon on Sunday most of the LA peeps have packed up and left and it becomes almost like a private day.

You kinda get a feel for the ebb and flow of the people coming on/off track…humans are social creatures that follow patterns…inevitably you’ll see 2 or 3 groups of 3 or 4 riders all coming on and going off at about the same time, then they’ll keep repeating that at about the same intervals all day, fairly easy to time a busier or more open track. It’s “no sessions’ but people fall into sorta non-structured sessions that you can time.

Plus Chuckwallah is so wide that even when there are a lot of people out there you have plenty of room to navigate, which makes for some fun and comparatively safe passing.

That particular org also only allows intermediate to advanced riders, Group A and B….so you don’t have Group C beginners taking crazy lines or panicking if you pass them and running off track.

Was at Laguna with Ducati REVS event. Track is indeed super smooth, not that grippy I'd say, especially off line.
It shredded my SC1 rear slick especially with the cool wind. SC2 front was ok. But in hindsight SC2 rear would have been perfect and probably better with and SC1 front too.
Was doing 1.40 laps, first time there, best track ever!!! Love it!
I wish they had some track days for bikes after July there, didn't see any....

Wow 1m40s is no joke! Especially with it being your first time there. I’m in the same boat, first time there but found it easy to learn the track. Positively cambered turns make it fun to push the limit. I could only manage a 1m52s (avg lap time was prob a 1m55s) on SPs. Speaking of, SPs held up well. Air temp was a high of 68F w a nice breeze. We had a 92 dB day, so had to take it easy through 5-6 which cost a couple secs.

If you have the chance to ride Laguna, do it. Will definitely be back.

Dunno why I was today years old and only just now finding this:

That place is 35 minutes from my house, and supplies the bike, for $379 you get to use their bike, for a semi private full track day with coaching,

I’ve been wanting to get on a Supermoto bike and track for awhile, everybody says it will progress my liter bike track riding a lot.
