I know this probably has been answered before, but when I searched for it I found nothing. Is there any reason not to change the oil before the first service? Bought the back late last year and I didn't make 600 miles before storage, I'm getting the bike ready to ride this year and am debating changing the oil. My dealership says wait until first service, any advice?

IMO there is no need to change it , but to answer your question It will not hurt anything. the only reason to not do it is because it is a complete waist of money and serves no purpose.

I changed mine at 250 miles, then again at just over 600, then at 2000. Waste of money? Yeah, probably. But I just felt better doing it that way. And plus, I like the smell of bananas, i.e. Motul.

It'll be fine to ride your bike until you hit 600 miles, then take it in to the dealer.

Better to not change it so the tech at the dealership can see the condition of the oil on the 1st service.

Thanks for the advice, just a side note, does anyone notice moisture on the Ducabike clear clutch cover? That alone is why I'm thinking of changing the oil.

I was told by the dealership a thinner/less viscous grade of oil is used for running in to help flush through and allow the components to bed in. This is then changed at your first service for normal running and adequate lubrication/cooling.
