Ok guys: where's my engine number?

Owner's manual (page 19, fig 4.) says specifically where with a diagram, but....no number there.

Any clues?

The vehicle id on the neck isn't the same number as the engine number.

From the rear right side of the bike, look towards the front, it's on the back of the engine, in behind the clutch.
