So with ArmorBodies and SharkSkinz not likely to produce 1299 specific bodywork before the end of the year, I broke down and ordered the Ducati Performance bodywork from my Ducati dealer.

My parts guy said I should have it around the third week of September.

It's ABS, pretty much the same as the OEM stuff, but it comes in a satin white. I shall try painting it myself.

You better put a krylon sticker on there lol. Do they have it specific for the 1299 now?

Yes, seat and side panels are the same as the 1199, I believe, nose fairing is different.

It still looks like street bodywork, but the nose comes with block off plates for the headlights and the tail light.

So in theory, I can use this bodywork for street and track.

I recieved the same race body work and race tail kit for my 1299 a couple of weeks ago. From what I can tell it is basically unpained stock body work. It comes with various electrical plugs so you can disconnect some of the components with out throwing a code. It also comes with the mirrior block offs and plastic headlight and tail light assemblies that are place holders for the real deal. All the body work is already pre drilled and it also comes with all new hardware. You will be amazed at how many boxes and how much stuff you actually get. I'm going to get a fiberglass tank cover and do a whole paint sceme. That way if I crash, or decide to go back to the origianl red, it would be an easy swap. Also, to go back to street, you only need to replace those headlight and taillight place holders. I will try to snap some pics later if anyone is interested in see them.

I'd like to see some pictures, much appreciated.

Cool How much did it run for the race bodywork?

How about this alternate solution..?
I am sure that the Chinese companies like Nice Cycle etc will come out with a pre painted version of the street replacement bodywork also soon.. (The Nice Cycle stuff is pretty well made and fits well from what I have heard) at least for the money..
In essence, If I could get an aftermarket body work from Nice
Cycle etc.( even if it was originally designed to replace the street bodywork) it would not be too hard to just take out the headlights and tail lights etc. and make some blanks to fill in the areas.

I could then leave all the stock stuff underneath still connected like the IMU which is mounted to the fairing stay I believe etc.

I am sure the Ducati stuff will be pretty expensive..

Any thoughts or ideas on that? :)

I just ordered SebiMoto bodywork from Czech. It is race bodywork specific to the 1299. I'll let you guys know what it's like (fit, finish, flex) after I receive it. I think I had Sebimoto on my Aprilia RS 250 and took a decent pounding. That was years ago and I really don't remember much about it now. I've also been begging Gianlucca at MotoXP to get the 1299 race bodywork done. He promises me the beginning to mid of September. He's been delaying me for months so I'm not holding my breath. I'm on his list so when I receive the MotoXP bodywork, I'll let you guys know about it, also.

WTF?

That isn't race bodywork. Who would want that ....? Seems to me like they just made a cheaper version of real bodywork and are trying to make a good profit.

Do that have REAL race bodywork available?

highside - I'm about to pull the trigger on the sebimoto myself.

Did you order the race seat? ("front part of racing seat") Curious if the stock seat will fit the tail bodywork.

Also - there's a bunch of brackets and such in the 1199 section that are missing from the 1299 section - did you order those or are they not needed?

I've seen these kits on a couple of Superlegerra's, yes it looks as good as OEM, because that's pretty much what it is without a paint job.

I'm not racing, but with less than 200 miles on my 1299, it's already stone chipped more than I would like thanks to the TX roads.

This bodywork will serve mainly track and do some street. The OEM stuff will go away in a closet.

Price wise, it's probably little a cheaper than most aftermarket track stuff.

Comparable SharkSkinz for an 1199 Panigale would cost over $1200 (I don't get racer discount if there is such a thing).

Yes Sharkskinz may crash better, but I don't plan on doing that..:)

The Chinese stuff will most likely be a bit cheaper, but it's not available currently.

I have Sebimoto carbon bodywork on my DB2.

I have SharkSkinz on my 1098S, for both track and street. I had Sean at CCR paint it, most people think it's OEM until they realize the fairing split is different.

Where do you get Sharkskinz costing $1200? For one, you dont need the front fender nor the oil retention pan. that saves you a few dollars. I know I paid well below $1000 for my race bodywork for my 1199 from Sharksinz

It was $839 with tax

Hey Chris, I sure like your list of toys in the garage! :D:D:D

You are a cool dude! I wish I had room for more bikes.. I Also have a 2013 ZX14 and a scooter for the misses and a Madass 125 pit bike.. and a Yamaha TTY 230 cc dirt bike.

However I can only ride one at a time and the Ducati has been the favorite lately unless my wife wants to go then we take the ZX14R

Either they raised their prices or I just got a good deal. I would always call a vendor. I try not to pay retail for anything.

Derblott:

I ordered the SebiMoto race bodywork for the front and bellypan of the 1299. Regarding the tail section, the 1199 and 1299 are interchangeable. Therefore, I ordered from Woodcraft an Armour Bodies superbike tail section. It is one piece. When I was ordering the SebiMoto, I saw the tail section, but it appeared to be in 3 different pieces. I don't like "pieces." Especially for racing. The less "stuff" that has to be bolted and clipped together, the better off you are. That's why I ordered the one piece tail section from Woodcraft. When the SebiMoto stuff gets here, I'll post up my thoughts. You should also look at MotoXP and email Gianlucca. Some of the other guys on this board are familiar with his stuff and there is a guy I know with an R1 and an 1199 that is running the MotoXP bodywork. It looks really nice and the bodywork can come painted and stickered as you request. The problem is Gianlucca at MotoXP has been delaying me for 3 months. But, he promises I will get a full race kit in September that looks like the Aruba WSB team. Again, I'm not holding my breath and that is the reason I went ahead and ordered the Sebimoto.

"Race" bodywork does not have headlights, real nor fake. And it doesn't have holes where headlights would go. Nor does it have any plugs/connectors for lights.

THIS is race bodywork...

I ordered the race fairing OEM parts from Ducati for my 1199 R. Needless to say I tested it properly too!

It was good quality and held together well and saved a lot of expense after a front end wash out. I felt it was really good value and as you say, a lot of parts and plugs etc. I even found 4 bobbins to shift the foot controls back like rear sets.

My only gripe with the kit was that the blanks were very heavy for what they were

I agree. I don't want to deal with block off plates and I doubt the edges are reinforced like quality race bodywork.

On to more important matters. When am I picking up that R6?
