I know the Termi's are normally an exclusive product only sold by Ducati dealers, but now since they switched to Akra's; Does anyone know if other dealers can order the new Termi's or Akra for the 1299s (from the Drag Book or anywhere else)?

I've seen some on eBay, but you're not saving much compared to dealer prices. Not too many options for us right now, and as far as I know, the only up-map available so far is the Akrapovic one.

I saw the Akra full system in a parts unlimited book and the guy said he could sell one to me for $3500. Only thing is the one in the parts unlimited book was for an 1199 2012-2014. He said he'd call them to find out if he can order the ones for the 2015 1299.

If you're wanting the Evo system, it's the same for 1199 and 1299. If you want the DP version with the included upmap and fancy DP logo that gives you an extra 5hp, then be prepared to pay closer to $5000. Get the Evo system and save yourself $$.

incorrect. the laser etching of the Ducati Performance logo adds 7.9whp peak and 18.7whp at 7900rpm. And the torque gains cannot be measured by traditional instrumentation. This alone justifies the $5000 price for what otherwise amounts to a collection of metal pipes.

I am still debating what exhaust to get. We just don't have that many choices. I like the GP style exhausts and 2 into 1s but again not many choices. I wish someone like Graves or anyone would jump on a make a good exhaust for the Pani that didn't cost so much.

The way it works is that the licensing for the Termi DP products for everything prior to the 1299 is tied to Ducati, and will continue to be sold through Ducati dealers exclusively. The 1299 Akra exhaust is also exclusively licensed to Ducati, and as mentioned previously it's different from the Akra Evo system which has been out for several years. Going forward we'll continue to see both Termi and Akra exhausts through DP for various bikes, for example the DP exhausts for the new Scrambler are all Termi products. So there has been no severing of ties between Termi and Ducati.

With such mercenary mark ups the profits must be the next best thing to extortion (asking Arsehammer's pardon). No wonder Termi and Ducati are joined at the hip.

Do you know how the Evo and DP exhausts are physically different? (Ignoring the logo/up map). I fitted the Evo, a friend fitted the DP and we can't see any physical difference - except in the price!

I agree, mechanically they should be the same, I also installed the Akra Evo on my 1299S, and according to Raseri, the pipes of the DP Akra are 60mm, same as the non DP Evo system.

Exactly.

Even $3500 is ridiculous for a damn exhaust. For $5000 Ducati can go get ....... Their etched logo isn't worth .... to me. I will get the EVO and be done with it.

;)

Since when does anyone believe the hp figures put out by the seller

I did before and after dyno
Same dyno
Difference was 7 horsepower

Bottom line- Get the ones you WANT and LIKE best regardless of cost or anything else, otherwise you will be second guessing yourself on what you "should have" done at some point! I only have Termi Slips- but had ECU tweaked a bit, and MWR Filter.
Do I like the look of Akra - Yes
Can I afford a FULL Set- No (perhaps with some connections) Slips - Yes

Do I wish Arrow would come out with a damn set for the 1199 Series - YES PLEASE!
And for the life of me I dont know why they have not! :(

As Gump said "Thats all I have to say about that!" :)

I bought a brand new Termi full system recently for $1900 shipped . I thought that was very cheap

Granted that I am old school and used to 996/998 and older ducatis, but calling $3500 a "DEAL" for just an exhaust system that drops a few pounds, adds 7-10 HP and makes the bike louder is by no means a deal.
At list price, the $5000 DP full exhaust system is 20%-30% of the entire motorcycle price (when New) and up to 30%-35% when talking pre-owned bikes.

We have to remember that no one else, but WE drive these prices. If the demand dropped the prices will fall..its that simple..

Would you pay $12,000-$15,000 for a full exhaust system on a corvette, or $15,000-$23,000 for a full exhaust system for a 911...I am assuming the answer is a big NO..no matter how silly you are with the money

Paying 20%-25% of Orig MSRP of the entire bike, just to get 3%-5% of original HP, and dropping 2%-3% dry weight makes no sense to me

That is cheap....and it is sad that we consider $1900 cheap.

There are lots of manufacturers that produce full exhausts for other bikes for under $1k (M4, Arrow, Leo-Vince). It just goes to show you how much of an "Exotic tax" companies add to .....

I refuse to believe that it costs 5x as much to fabricate a full Ti exhaust for a Panigale than it does for a Gixxer or Yamaha.

They are ripping us off.

they know that Ducatisti have deeper pockets and less rationale :D
easy deal.

Everyone justified their purchases with different reasons.

Bottom line is, if it's a rip off, simple.....don't buy it. I agree that these things are far too expensive but people will continue to buyrrgardless. Plain n simple.
