Paid Market Research for 1199 Panigale Owners

Would you like to participate in a market research study? We will pay you $100 to do an on line survey next week about your Panigale. This is strictly for market research purposes only; no one is trying to sell you anything. Your input will help the motorcycle manufacturers develop better products in the future. Please give me a call ASAP to register.

I got this email and I think its a scam - Marketing company would not use a forum to advertise - it seems suspect

You call, they have your number, your number becomes part of a population that buys expensive toys, it gets sold to a marketing firm for mass spam based on that demo.

Total BS.

Send me the Hundy first...then I'll participate...how's that??

Seems legit to me. I called and signed up. I should know by next week.

The same company ran a face to face focus group in CA earlier this year that some folks say they participated in. As 1199s are relatively rare at this time, going on a forum to find owners seems like a reasonable approach.

Likely the research is being funded by a company thinking of entering the high end sportbike market. Maybe someone like Triumph, Victory or maybe even Motus. Could be a large Japanese maker thinking of creating a tuner line of bikes (eg. AMG for Mercedes, M for BMW, Shelby for Ford). The dollars paid to get people to participate are nothing compared to the cost of developing a new model for a new market to your brand.

Here we go again. This was all hashed out on the other forum. A couple of members posted up on an earlier research thing this company paid for and they were quite happy with.

What it boils down to, don't give out any personal info you're not comfortable with releasing and all will be well.

I'm basically too lazy to do it is why I haven't done it.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for signing up. The email with the link will go out to you Monday.

It is a shame more people don't understand what market research is all about. The incentive we pay is for your time and opinion. We have nothing to sell; it is strictly for opinion research which helps the manufacturers develop better products. The reason I used the forum to find owners is because the bike is rare and the dealers won't give out their customers names due to privacy policies.

The information we gather is confidential and is used for market reseach purposes only and is not sold or shared with anyone outside of research project.

I will be in the office late Monday afternoon and would love to sign more people up for the one hour on line survey. Call in, leave a message if you get voice mail and i will call you back and when i get in.

Thanks,

David

I called and just got off the phone with some lady that ended up telling me that because I build custom bikes and would loosely claim that I "work for an atv or motorcycle dealership or repair shop" makes it a conflict of interest and I'm unable to state my opinion and participate.

That is one of THE dumbest things I've heard in a long time.... With my generally extended knowledge and insight compared to the average rider or owner, my opinion and feedback should be MORE valuable since I know MORE about what makes a bike good or bad. What a bunch of idiots...

On a positive note, they pay you a $100 check for cash money made out to you for doing an hour survey online, so that would make it worth it, if my private shop wasn't such a conflict of interest. Ya know, since I'm not actually a real consumer... Unbelievable.

I've done these things before. I got on a list and would get called or emailed about opportunities on a regular basis. I once went to a deal at lunch time where I reviewed different parts and accessories that would come on pick-up trucks. $100 for my lunch hour wasn't bad.

Got one once to participate in a beer sampling deal for a company. They never tell you who it is because they want an unbiased opinion of their product. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to that one.

I got my $100 check in the mail today. Giving credit where credit is due.
