That being said, I have no idea where Topolino thought it was logical to use "on par" with Kope's 1199. They are not even on the same planet. Maybe aesthetically, but not at all mechanically. One is 95% otc bolt ons with the majority in the "aesthetics" category. The other, not so much.

On par in the sense of financial investment in each bike. Kope had a LOT of mechanical work and mods done by Moto Rapido, to produce the end product. Pumpdad has invested as much in terms of overall expenditure but done all the work himself. BTW Endo, your bike is anything but "ordinary" mate.

kope hired an excellent shop to build him a tricked out bike, but kope should have learned how to ride on a 250 or 600 before pushing on that beast :D

pumpdad's bike is well executed no doubt, and 99%+ of us cant ride a base model anywhere near its full potential anyhow so just have fun i guess.... and if you're truly going for max performance just to do it, then most of the bling seems to come well before the legit mods, if ever :p

I loved his passion and enthusiasm. I really respected the fact that he was willing to thrash that bike with so much invested into it. On the other hand, I cringed and often wondered when the next update was going to be from someone else saying that he crashed himself into never walking again or something.

i tried to warn him, and perhaps i wasn't as considerate in those warnings as i should have been, but the man was out of his league in terms of riding skills to bike level.

when i saw the vids of him riding, i was genuinely concerned. having the money to hire the artisans and builders is one thing, having the good taste to direct them is another, but then lacking the good sense to take a riding course or hire a private instructor on a small enough bike that one can actually learn on is wholly different. it reminds me of that saying, having more money than sense. and i don't say that with any malice nor to insult the man. i just remember him sinking all this money into a kind of rolling casket, a beautiful one no doubt... and i'm a fan and admirer of dumb courage, generally speaking, but the risk/reward still has to make some sense.

Yeah, I felt the same. I hope he's still out there riding safely. You can only walk away from so many crashes unscathed. He definitely was burning through those at an accelerated pace and simply refused to do anything but throw more parts at the problem. Hopefully he's still out riding though.

I remember very well always reading his posts. Always something interesting on his bike. I recall he did post about a crash once. Does anyone know what happened to him and his bike ? Perhaps someone was chatting to him via email, that has an update. Be nice to know how he was going.

I hope Kope catches on to this thread with a light heart,as Iv seen him ride in person and is more than capable of riding his bikes with pace!

He still out there but riding has taken a back seat for a short period while other commitments fill his life.

Kobe seemed to be riding pretty good for what I saw, I will say I have to laugh at the comments as most people on this board would do well to ride a 300cc bike to the limit let alone a litre bike
