Panigale V4 Tank Extender

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I finally installed the Ducati Performance tank extender on my V4SP yesterday. I have it taped down tight and haven’t checked it yet today. I’ll post a pic later as well.

This is mine after removing the masking tape holding it tight overnight. I obviously haven’t put the side pads on yet.

Thanks for sharing pics, it looks great.

Would you mind posting a pic of you sitting on the bike looking downward at the tank/console? Want to see how much this extender squares off the tank profile and how much space it takes up with rider on the bike.

Also, I assume it mounts to the tank with just double sided VHB tape? Is it ever reversible? If you use a heat gun, can you pry it off without harming the paint on the tank itself or is this a permanent and no going back install? If I don't end up liking it, I wonder if I can peel it off and get another tank extender.

Are you sure it’s meant to sit that high?

I recall it fitting a lot closer to the seat.

Still looks good [emoji106]

It's supposedly meant to work with the DP race seat, so I think Alkhater is correct. It probably mounts lower and tucks into the seat more seamlessly.

Yup. If this pic is a reference then you can see the pad is an inch or less away fro the crease between the tank and seat and it’s touching the seat, whereas SPs install looks more like 2 inches away.

The height is dictated by the actual curvature profile of the extender. You put it where it “wants” to be to lay the edges and double-sided tape flat against the tank all around. If closer to the seat it doesn’t fit the tank properly. If you had one in-hand and placed it against the tank you would instantly see where it should fit.

The location is exactly where you want it while in a racing tuck. If just putting around sitting upright, there’s a small gap for your junk to stuff into…. LOL

The SP tank is aluminum, so I’m not sure how it would fit against the plastic tank, but the profile should be the same.

It’s likely not stuck on the tank, the tank profile is different, or it isn’t mounted correctly.

I think you have the gap because you don't have the dp race seat. The race seat has more padding up front and more than likely takes up the gap you have between the seat and the extender.

Yeah, that could be the deal with it. I like the stock SP seat, especially since it has the SP logo on it!
