Indeed I have ...... myself on this one. I was installing the the comp werkes fender eliminator. Basically the whole thing was a pain in the ass and i got myself in a position where i decided to take the key lock (spot where you stick the key in order to unlock the seat cover) apart. Doing this was a terrible idea. I did not know this at the time. So eventually I put everything back together and I tried to remove the seat cover. I twisted the key but it did nothing. The key doesn't turn smoothly and wont release the seat cover.

What are my options?
How can I possibly remove it without destroying the fairing?
Can I get warranty to cover this and just claim that it malfunctioned?
(The problem is they will know i took it apart when they see the fender eliminator)

Similar thing happened to me when I installed my Evotech tail Tidy. I didnt disassemble the lock, but when fiddling around in the small compartment where the tool kit goes i somehow managed to screw with the locking mechanism and it would not release the rear cowl.
I took it to the dealer and they helped me get it loose, took like 20 minutes of more fiddling. Not completely sure what they did, cant really help with any instructions.

Take the main seat off and try rooting around for the lock cable.

If you can expose a portion, cut into the outer-sleeve and pull the core, which will release the pillion seat lock.

Don't Panic and do NOT cut into the outer-sleeve and pull the core.

Pull off the rider's seat and you have access to the key locking mech where you can try to manually release the pillion cover.

If this does not release the cover, use a flashlight and inspection mirror, through the access cutout on the rear sub-frame, to view the seat release mechanism - it will be tough, but you may find a way to manually release it from there.. the actuator need to be slid to the right side of the bike to release -

.. Or take it to the dealer :)
