Passenger cowl flew off

You must hear a Click when you PUSH the seatcowl TOWARDS the tail light direction.

Once you hear that CLICK...then it will never come off!

100% agree .... however, after reading all these threads about flying cowls, I can't help myself periodically reaching back to check while riding :(

....phew, almost said reach-around :p

+1 - you have to slowly push the cowl rearward until you hear it click into place. It's pretty obvious once it locks.

Just 30 mins ago , was riding my panigale base to work .

Was a happy man .
Halfway through the ride on the expressway, felt something at my ass .
Took a quick peak , passenger cowl was detached and flew off !!!
Lucky no vehicle was behind me , if not it would had hit their wind screen .

Reached my work place feeling sad as hell ..

Totally bad way to start a day ...

And prior to moving off I took a cloth from underneath the cowl and lock it back ...
Wondering if it was my fault or mechanical fault ...

How can you feel sad when you are living in Singapore!! :D:cool:

I honestly did not know this was an "somewhat" common issue. I better check it out.

Sorry to hear that.

When I bought my duc the tech took it out for a test ride after the prep. Same thing happened to him. He had not properly secured it and it flew off on the freeway. They gave me a new cowl :D Now I make sure that I check that the cowl is always firmly secured.

It happend to me when I left the showroom! Someone at the shop I purchased it from did not click it in place properly!

I got this replaced at their cost (Obviously)

I have taken it off once and the secret is (as someone has already mentioned) is to make sure it's pushed home hard and to make sure you give it a good tug to make sure it's properly home.

Same. Dealer said be here at 4, bike will be ready. 4 bike being pulled out of crate.

Ride home, someone in traffic tells me something fell off my bike.
Pending a replacement

You'd think by now the dealers would be extra careful on these. It's a good bit trickier to know it's in place than on my SF to be sure.
