Good morning,

I wanted to know if anyone here has found anything significant on the tires that just came out from Pirelli 5 or so weeks ago, the Supercorsa TD tire.

I just got a brand new leftover 15R and will be running the OEM tires for track days, I just got a second rear to work through as the front will last through two sets in my case. Does anyone know if the TD tire is supposed to outperform the SP V2? The V2 is made from two different materials and the TD is supposed to be made from one and is specifically supposed to offer more grip for track riders like myself.

Also, offered through my track-side dealer is the Supercorsa V1. I do have tire warmers, so this is also a solution for me. Would the V1 offer more all out grip than the TD? Has technology in tires come to the point where tires like the TD or the Q4 offer better grip and handling characteristics than the V!?
The V! can be had at a cheaper price than the TD, so I was wondering if using an older technology on a race compound would be better for all out grip. Tire life is second to me in grip in any scenario.

Your input is valued, thanks!

I am wondering this myself. I have only used the V2s on my 1299 for track and street. I have been debating about trying the TD out but have not seen any feedback yet. I need to swap tires now so I may just bite the bullet and try them out myself.

The TD tire is a bit cheaper. I think the difference is the SP has a harder middle compound component to it where the TD is all soft for maxim grip at all time, which will make a terrible street tire.If you are riding street and a little track the SP is a great tire. The TD is for track and a small amount of road use.

In the same boat as you, one track day between now and a back-to-back double weekend in June. Probably gonna abuse my rear tire next weekend so I have an excuse to run the TD for June.

Going to do the TD 1F 2R purchase and use those until the end of July, then if it gets high-80-90F weather on go the slicks.

I'll be sure to post a comparison between my 5/11 and June rides though 5/11 is going to be a shakedown of the new (to me) R.

Still cracks me up you have a zero mileage '15R : ), what a find.

Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP Vs td | 13x Forums

The Diablo Supercorsa SP tires were/are designed first as OEM tires for many new bike applications like Aprilia, Honda, Ducati, and MVs. The front is single compound and the rear is bi-compound. The center compound of the rear is there to give increased mileage, but if you want mileage you need to look at the Diablo Rosso II or the Rosso III. And note these are only available in big bike (600cc & above) sizes and they're great track day tires.

The new Diablo Supercorsa TD tires are both single compound. These TD tires have more performance than the SPs but are not as grippy as the true race tires. These are designed for track day events as a longer lasting and less expensive option vs. the race tires.

To summarize these DOT tires
Diablo Supercorsa SP, limited sizes with good track performance but are more street orientated
Diablo Supercorsa TD, wide size range and more performance than the SPs but not to the level of the race tires
Diablo Supercorsa SC, widest range of sizes and compounds and the best DOT race tires in the market

I thought the SP V3's that came on my V4 did a nice job on the track. I have not tried or know anyone that has used the TD tire they offer.

I do know that a couple of years ago Pirelli offered a TD slick tire that was OK. It lasted longer then the SC slicks but the rear was not good at pace and the front didn't have a lot of feel.

I think it depends on your pace and how hard you like to push. I ran the Q4 to start this season as it was cold and a mix of wet & dry. I thought they did a great job and would run them again. They do not have the same feel as the Pirelli's and I think that Ducati's work better on the Pirelli's. Just my opinion.

Ya really stoked I found this bike. What a beast. Got 510 on her now. Doing oil change amd setting the light this weekend. First track day is May 17th in Loudon, then back to back days in Canaan. Then club motorsports two day june 10th 11th then Loudon 12th amd 13th. Then NYST 16th and 17th. Its my crack track week, lol.
Slicks eh, hmmmm never been on a set still.
I'm excited to try these TD tires. Spoke to a rep today and said they are suppsed to outperform on both grip amd longevity of the Q4. I shall see.

Yeah, giving the slicks a go when I know it is hot enough I won't be street riding much.

That's a lot of track time for a week, I'll be with you in NH and NYST.

Cheers.

Thats fantastic, come by and say hello , which NH event will you be at, Loudon or Tamworth?

Tamworth, looking forward to it. Two '15 R's should be easy to find in the paddock.

haha for sure, did you speak to Tim ? Will the bikes pass the noise restrictions?
I was going to run the FE there. It only makes a couple of sessions a year, I was gonna bring both. You know for $hits and gigs

Saw some email chains going back and forth, got my baffles in so as quiet as I'm gonna be. If I need to roll out of it between T1 and 2 so be it.

Can't wait to see your rides.

Cheers.

Nice, the only thing that keeps me from putting on the full race system on the FE is the noise regulations.

See you at the track!!
