I have a 2005 Ducati 999 and I went to start it this morning and when I pushed the start button, it cranks over a few times and then shuts off. Battery is good. I can’t hear the fuel pump priming so not sure.

Check that battery connections (screws) is tightened correctly. (+) & (-) on battery and (-) on the engine block.
Measure the voltage across the battery, (+) to (-) must been 12,3 volts, if not, the battery is bad or connction to from rectifier to Generator is not good or the rectifier is broke.

Try this way..
Put the bike on 2nd gear. Keep the battery alive and. take the bike on a steep so that it can start moving along the steep. Then release the clutch.

If the battery voltage is normal, you should hear the fuel pump prime before trying to crank. If it’s not priming, it’s very possibly the harness that goes through the fuel pump flange in the bottom of the tank. It’s very common for fuel to penetrate the epoxy in the harness pass-thru and dissolve the soldered connections. If that’s the case, Ducati only advertises the entire fuel pump/flange/harness assembly. It’s quite pricey. There are a couple companies that sell just the harness for much less money. Good luck.
