One more thing. I would discourage using soldered joints on a motorcycle. Better practice is to use a solid crimp covered by heatshrink. A lot less likely to fail due to vibration.

Obviously, if your wire is separated by a connector, and you have enough length, you are even better of to install a new connector (with new pins/sockets).

That's good to hear. Yes, it took some patience, time, and practice to learn the crimping but I feel it was time well spent. Like I said, now I know how to do it if I need to again.
