You are entitled to your opinion..:).. I did preface my post by saying "Personally I think.." :D.. and personally I think the Corvette build quality is not close to the GT-R...

First of all all, I'm not really disagreeing with you because I fully admire the GTR and I have ridden in one. I might have bought one if available with a true manual transmission.

Second, I think the build quality of the corvette gets a bad rap. I have owned four C6's and none of them had a single rattle, almost no quality problems and were a blast to drive.

Personally I think the GT-R is the best value on the road given its performance build quality and reliability...

That it is.
But not very pretty. And as much as it is benchmark for performance and value,
it speaks volumes for Porsche, that Nissan set out to better their Turbo.

actually, chevrolet made note in the press launch that they strived to improve the build quality of the vette, the interior specifically, which has for some time been pretty cheesy. But of course these are all opinions and as they say, "opinions are like a*****es, everyone has one and they all stink!"
I like the new 14 vette, but my sports car days are long past and derive all my enjoyment on two wheels now. :)

Yeah, the magazines constantly pan the Corvette interior. Could it have been better, sure. But I drove mine at 1G many times in some 100 mph sweepers and never got thrown out of the car, and I drove one of my C6s 1030 miles straight through in a day by myself and was extremely comfortable. I'm always for better materials and quality, but I never felt cheated.

Meanwhile the magazines love $90,000 Boxters and rave about the quality, but seem to be okay with the fact that they have 320 hp in the S. My Z06 listed for $79,000 and may not have had as nice of an interior, but it had 505 horsepower. Which would you rather have for the same amount of money?

actually I'd rather have a lower weight lower horsepower car like my elise was, BUT you really have to close your eyes in terms of build quality, but exc. value for the money in terms of grin factor. I've just never been a big fan of heavy, high horsepower GT cars, at least nothing made after the ferrari 275 gtb. :D

The only car I ever took to deals gap and almost as much fun in a car as a sportbike!

In fact here's a pic of the first elise I had (I was lucky enough to have the first US elise delivered in the US!). And another pic of the caterham super 7 HPC I had. That's at road atlanta.

Many people don't realize that other than specialty cars such as in the post just above, the Corvette is as light as just about any other sports car made. In fact, the C6 Z06 is virtually the same weight plus or minus a few cheeseburgers as the 320 hp Boxter I referred to.

I have been a Lotus fan since the Europa of the 60s, but as you say, they are very much a specialty car. I have not driven one, but I'm sure they are a blast on a tight race track (or the Dragon).

2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8. I have a thing for old school muscle cars...just not the patience. So, this fit the bill for me.
