The time has finally come to prep my '22 V4S for its first track day, and for it become a dedicated track bike. After 600 grueling street miles to accomplish the break-in (and concluding that anyone who buys this bike for anything other than track use is a sadist) I'm now going to have my shop install the full Akra system and map that finally arrived after a 3 month wait.
After reading about various headlight and tailight blank-offs, and how actually removing the headlight is the better path to take vs. simply covering it up, as if it were ever damaged it would be very expensive to replace, I'm now wondering if I shouldn't just get a full set of dedicated track fairings instead of replacing just select pieces of the bodywork.
What do you think?
Also, if I go the "full replacement set" route, are they available in primed, painted, and/or carbon fiber?
Which version would you choose?

If it will be a track only, I certainly would invest in a full track fairing set.

This will allow you to save the original lights, bodywork, and other stock items if you ever choose to put it back on the street of sell in the future.

Yes, agreed, but who should I consider getting the full track fairing set from? Is the kit form Ducati the best? It appears in the on-line accessory catalog to be unpainted, but is it?
Would a carbon fiber kit from, say, Motocomposites be a good/better option?

The ducati bodywork is well priced and ready for your own wrap/paint/stickerbomb but its not at tough as FRP fairings. Expensive carbon IMHO is a bit pointless for a trackday bike and offers zero practical advantage, its not tough, abrasion resistant or flexible compared with other fibres. Unless you have a bargain lined up, I would look at plain GRP with perhaps some kevlar reinforcement. Fitment is important, not sure if this fits a 22 (different tank) but its a great product Racing Fairing Kit Ducati V4R 2019+ – BIKESPLAST or something like that from a company that specialises in track fairings, you can tell because they will pretty much follow the same tried and true system of GRP with kevlar/carbon reinforcement.

For track fairings i've been considering these guys since they are US based and list individual parts.

I have a set of non-carbon fiber fairings from Hotbodies and a set of FullSix CF fairings. The Fullsix are expensive and showy, they look great, fit great, but I’ve had several tabs fail, luckily non-critical tabs.

In my opinion the $4600 for the Fullsix is too nice a set for track use, I’m using them at the track but only because I got mine at a fire sale from a shop moving out of state. I got them for less that than non-CF stuff already painted and finished.

Hotbodies or Bikeplast are probably the way to go for a very good track fairing, then just get them liveried with a wrap or paint of your choice for fun.

I have a 22 V4S that I managed to frisbee off the side of a mountain, so now it will be a track bike. The tank is different and there aren’t many options out there…let me know what you find. I do know that Woodcraft is working with Armour Body to develop a kit and that FullSix has a set in the works that will be available February.

MotoComposites out of Quebec is pretty good, I’ve ordered several things from there I’m happy with.

Good amount of stuff in stock depending on what finish you opt for. Meaning you get it within a week in the US

And I’ve always gotten top quality stuff with great customer service out of Vulturebike in Italy

Thanks everyone! I've ordered Ducati's Bodywork kit, but can anyone confirm if I also need any of the following items (w/Ducati Part #s):
  • Mirror Hole Covers - 97381151AA (I wouldn't think the Race Kit would have holes for mirrors)
  • Number Plate Light Plug/Dongle - 38610411A
  • Tail Light Connector Plug/Dongle - 96510961A
  • Is there a headlight Plug/Dongle?
  • Is there a side stand Plug/Dongle? Would you suggest removing the side stand and rely on just wheel stands?

I have purchased a couple of 2018/19 & 2020/21 sets from Motoxpricambi and the fit is spot on. The paint is also a good match as well. In fact my bike has the full exhaust and the bottom fairing piece from them works better with the kick stand then the stock one.

I can only give my opinion on your last question. Kickstands are soooooo convenient. The riders who don’t have them are always looking for someone to help them when they return from a session. The upside to having a kickstand definitely outweighs the downside to not having one IMO.
