As mentioned before, some of you may remember my thread on the Ducati Superbikes forum, from a few years ago, entitled "Project 1098SPS". Having sold that bike recently, the plan was always to embark on a new project, using an 1199S as my blank canvas. For various reasons, I have opted to delay taking delivery of the new bike until April 2014. However, preparations have already begun and this time I have decided to take a different path.

Instead of creating a new thread on here (and other forums), with numerous posts & photos, I have decided to create a dedicated website which will serve as a single point of reference, for all those that are interested in following the progress of the project. The website is still under development, but I am hopeful it will go live in the next few weeks.

However, here is a teaser in the meantime......

Project 1199SPS - Coming Soon

Regards...Topo

Congrats and best of luck on the new project.

Can't wait for April to see your new project.
I'm sure it will be better then it was the 1098SPS (which where the most amazing and dedicated project I've seen on a 1098).

Ok...you have my attention!! Just please don't put a UK-made exhaust on it, or you'll be sorry:D

Can't think of any UK made exhausts worth fitting. It's a toss up between Akras and Termis basically. Not sure if Arrow are developing a system, so I might consider them as an alternative. The rest don't take my fancy.

SC project? killer looks and sound IMHO.

SC? New one on me. Trouble is the Termi option is obviously the easiest option, since they provide the up-map and all the ancilliary parts to go with the system. All the other options, would require re-flashing the ECU and possibly some mapping sessions on the dyno. Been down that road before with the Akras and it's a lot more involved, to get the best out of the bike and the fuelling spot-on. Price you pay I guess.

Just by way of a reminder, the new website is on track for launch, the 30th September at midnight. If you are on the notification list, you'll receive an email confirming when it's online.

Edited: Launch brought forward 24 hours due to personal circumstances.

Website is now live, as are the Facebook and Twitter pages. Still a few bugs in there to iron out, but I'm in the process of fixing those as well as sorting out compatibility across mobile and tablet platforms, so bear with me.

Testing on iPad, iPhone and Android devices is now complete. The site is now fully responsive to changes in orientation and screen size. There remains one issue which is purely iOS related but I am striving to find a solution. On a plus note, I have injected a brand new animation engine into the HTML code, so gallery images are now visible on mobile devices when you tap on them, including the ability to zoom in and out (toggle option) as well as a slideshow. On a PC or Mac you can now also scroll through images in a gallery, using your mousewheel. A lot of work has gone into improving the "behind the scenes" functionality and I am 99% of the way there. As always if you spot an issue, please let me know.

Other News:

I have just taken delivery of the first of my carbon fibre parts quarry from LiebSpeed in Germany. Fantastic quality. Pictures will be uploaded to the site shortly.

The first of the monthly newsletters is almost ready to release. In this first edition you will find exclusive news of some very special carbon parts that I have on order from CDT in Slovenia, which are due for delivery in a few weeks time. These are not what you might term "an immediately obvious choice" from their range of Panigale products, so if you would rather not wait to find out more then why not subscribe?!

Finally received a part from Ducati (which is the second one to be sent, as the first was damaged in transit). It's fundamental to the project and will be seeing a lot of use throughout the build.

Also if you are currently one of the 200 (at last count) subscribers to the newsletter, you will already know what's coming this month. Well the parts have finally arrived from CDT!

If you want a head up on what's in the pipeline and would prefer not to have to wait for these posts, then you can still subscribe. Issue 1 of the monthly newsletter has already gone out Note that you can un-subscribe at any time. If you are not currently subscribed then fear not. All the information and pictures will be uploaded to the website shortly.

I hope to have this done within the next 24 hours. Playing catch up at the moment as we had some pretty violent storms sweep across the southern part of the UK yesterday, which caused a power outage all day, so I will try my best to update the site tonight, once I get back from work.

Just placed another order with CDT and Lieb Speed. Details will follow in Issue 2 of the newsletter and later on Facebook and Twitter. Also looking at having some custom billet parts made on a CAD CAM machine, which are totally unique.

What's the goal? Cosmetic, performance, both? Is this going to be a race bike or street only?

Both cosmetic and performance. Not sure as yet if I will track this bike, as I have another sister project in mind for a small single, on which to get my hand back in. Lost a lot of riding time over the last two years, due to a neck injury and subsequent surgery.

Website has been updated with some new features. Lots of new parts, either en-route or just arrived. Pictures will be uploaded tomorrow night. If you have subscribed to the newsletter, you will already know what these are! A little over 10 weeks now to delivery of the bike. Is it wrong to be so excited?!

Thanks Kope. Knowing the perfectionist you are with the preparation of your own 1199R, that's quite a compliment. I've now added a new carousel feature to the Home page as well, which I posted on the Facebook and Twitter pages.
