Valentino Rossi is already a legend...but like all Legends..his time has come to an end...as younger guys like Jorge, Marquez, Pedrosa Dovicioso, Crutchlow and maybe some Moto2 riders who will be racing in the premiere Class- MotoGP, will be far more aggressive and hungrier to win...

But he has proven that Ducati engineering cant beat yamaha's or honda's. Rossi has been on the podium and in 4th place more often this year in Yamaha than when he was racing for Ducati. So yes...it is the bike that is the problem and maybe a bit of Rossi too...being much older than the other new motoGP kids on the block.

I have to say that Stoner is great! Not for all he has done, but for all he has done in his short time in the premier class. The stats tell the tale of Stoner you should read them. He also kicked everyone's ..... at the top of their collective games, On a bike that is difficult, at best, to manage.

I actually wish he didn't leave the sport, but such as life.

I agree!!!

Rossi is already a legend, we and a few more decades will come to leant/know...
Maybe beyond year 2050.. or so, nobody will know anymore...

What we do or achieved and are are just passing cloud(s)...the brevity fact of life.I don't think my great-great grand children will even know my name in years to come.

now let's get out there and ride the 1199 HARD!!!..

I'm thinking we ought to create a anti-rossi subforum for markNY. I continue to be astonished at how much energy you must have that you waste so much time on anything even remotely Rossi, move on, puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze! ;)

You could always put "rossi sucks" in your sig line so that if their's anyone within a thousand miles of this forum who doesn't know your feelings will know immediately.

all in fun my friend. you dont really think i care what rossi does do you? i highly doubt the dr cares what i say. If i met the guy i would shake his hand and wouldnt have a bad word to say unless he said he was the greatest ever then i would have to disagree.

as was my post. To be honest I just don't really care enough about racing to have a dog in the fight, but I always did enjoy Rossi, as unlike some of the top tier riders who always seemed miserable, he almost always seems to be having a good time. And why not, he's a millionaire doing something he loves!

all in fun my friend.

Mark could read a phone book and find an anti-Rossi angle:rolleyes:

And could quite possibly find an anti-Panigale angle in a kids book on puppy dogs.

lets clear one thing up. i am not anti panigale. I OWN ONE. I have worked on it myself with some on the forum. Flobrand happens to be one of the people who i have worked with (gunny shawn duc1199 etc) my problem with the panigale is that it is not user friendly and has many bugs. those bugs should have been worked out before selling them for 25k a pop. If you read some of my other posts i say how i love riding the bike, how it makes me smile when i twist my wrist. The problem comes in when its in the shop every other weekend or it takes me 2 hours to change radiator fluid.

Hands down stoner is the best rider i have seen. MM is very close to him. JLO is so fluid and consistent also.

If you had one rider in their prime to pick and put him on the ducati who would it be?

rossi would be in the top 5 but not no 1

issues i have had:
melting left lower fairing
bubbling rear hugger from new heat shield.
turn signal
horn
clear coat failure
dash
bolts coming loose.
and the run around from stealerships not to fix the issues.
Now i ask you if you had all these problems and were one of the first to get the bike would you not be a little upset?

So you took my tongue in cheek post as an opportunity to again list all of the problems you've had with your bike out of love for it?:D

Mark - What was the clearcoat failure? I swear I read most threads but somehow missed this one

clear coat failure is marks in the actual clear coat. they look like tiny bubbles in the paint like if you put on an iphone screen protector and got air in it but when you try and clean it its actually in the clear coat itself. My friend Lee found this and told me about it as he was putting on the xpel ultimate paint protection. mine is so small its hard to notice but it annoyed me. cause now i know where it is. i tried to take a picture to show ducati and its so hard to see and now that i have the paint protection on there they will say its in the film but its not its under the film. someone else on this forum had his bike or that section repainted as he had the same thing i will look for the post for you.

I love Rossi. Huge fan. Not because he's unbeatable because he is. But because of his colorful character. I "enjoy" watching him race, win or lose.

I feel you Mark. And I must say you're approaching it much bette than the other individual. Props to you for that. All the best on getting her fixed!

MM being close to Stoner my ass. MM is better than Stoner as was shown in the 1st MotoGP class appearance.

stoner didnt start on a factory ride with the best bike in the business. there styles are very close and if he is better than stoner then what is he to rossi? way better?

Of course!

And MM won't quit like Stoner and actually do more than few years. I think he will do like 8-10 years minimum.

I’m really feel my age today when the subject of GOAT riders have the names of Casey Stoner and Mark Marquez. No mention on King Kenny, Randy Mamola, Mich Doohan, KRJR, Max Biaggi, Gary McCoy, Norick Abe, Freddie Spencer (250 & 500cc same year), Eddie Lawson , Carl Fogarty, Troy Corser, Troy Bayliss, Barry Sheen, Jamie Whitham, Frankie Chili, Aaron Slight and Giacomo Agosti.

Rossi gets the edge because he has sustained it close to 2 decades now, alot of riders come and go. Sometimes we become prisoners of the moment.
