All v4s owners, Ducati just released a few updates today. A few software ecu related and a couple gas purge valve hardware updates due to multiple reports of gas tank pressure. The ecu software update shuts down 2 cylinders at idle under 1800rpms, to reduce heat and also raises the idle rpm to reduce stalling issues.

Bring it in to your dealer for the updates.

That sounds terrible! I don't want cylinder deactivation. Everyone who owns a Corvette or automatic Camaro wants to get rid of it.
My bike doesn't run hot. And so far it's only stalled once, (when my brother was riding it).

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm not a fan of it either. But apparently it's only at idle under 1800rpms. And if we don't update, I wonder what that would do to our warranty.

Good point!

Probably nothing don’t have to update, problems with cylinder deactivation if it wasn’t designed for it.

I just dropped my bike off for first service, I intended to request that the updates not be loaded at this time ...my bike is running perfect.

Should not affect warranty, don't let anyone bully you!! I will only do updates as problems arise.

...and in regards to issues with first year run bikes, it doesn't bother me. I actually enjoy the process. I mean, I had no issues with the two 1199 I had new in 2012 (while most were smoking on start up) and no issues thus far with the V4 (no stalling, no shut off/over heating, no errors, no canister issues). #fingerscrossed

I just got mine back from the warranty work they had to do on it (left radiator fan siezed up) and they applied the major software updates. It honestly feels no different. I noticed the slightly higher idle, that's about it.

Just got it updated today. The cylinder shut down sound is distinctive, you can hear it, but you can't feel it. Before this, when I'm in rush hour traffic, the bike would sometimes heat up to 4 bars and stay there. Today was a hotter day here than previous days, and I was in rush hour traffic this morning after the update. It went up to 4 bars, but as soon as I stopped and put it in neutral, I could hear the bike shut down 2 cylinders and the coolant temp dropped to 3 bars almost right away. Rode all day today. The transition from 4 cylinders to 2 and vice versa is audible, but feels seamless. Only shuts down above a certain coolant temp and either clutch in or in neutral. As soon as you give it any little bit of gas or clutch out, all cylinders fire. Aside from the quieter idle sound, it's not an obvious change. Good update imo.

My bike has been done all designed on keeping the heat down . My bike runs spot on
Mine is running awesome now as well. I'm addicted to the exhaust sound banging through the gears at high rpms.

Can't wait for the first track day with it.

There is also an update with the Akrapovic line and the racing mapping?

Not that I know of. The upmap I have doesn't interfere with the new ecu update as that's only for idle, from what I was told.

I have clicked over 1,000 k’s and i have had the chugging issue which i hope will be fixed. The PITA issue i have is no Akra until June in Oz.
How does that work?

Any issues with police and how loud your new exhaust is? This is the only thing holding me back from getting the Akro.

Nope. Especially with the update, it's pretty quiet at idle now. It's only loud if you rev it up.
