I have a question about the up-maps, is the slipon up-map different than the full system up-map? My reason asking is that i have a 1199s tricolore with the slipons (new inbox - not installed), but i found a good deal on the full system that came with the R model(new inbox with r upmap and dda) . Does anybody know if the R up-map works on my tricolore? Im planning on selling my brand new slipons and upmap that came with my tri. Any help appreciated thanks.

Nvm i did some research and found these part numbers. These are the part numbers actually on the up-map itself.

Up-map for termignoni slip ons for 1199/1199s
96524211B

Up-map for termignoni full system for 1199/1199s
96524311B

Up-map for termignoni full system for 1199r

I will try to upload the R up-map to my S, i will keep you updated

It should give you an error, uppon trying to update, unless some hacking is involved.
You should be aware that the "R" engine is different from the "S" or "Base" version.

I did precisely the same change as you did. The R model up map usb will NOT work with the S model (I also have a Tricolore). The R model ECU is a different unit, and even if it were the same, if the usb had been uploaded into it, it would not work. The usb "mates" with the particular ECU it is originally uploaded into, and will not work on any other ECU but that particular unit. You have two choices - buy a new usb upmap for the full system from Ducati (about $450), or use an aftermarket system such as a TuneBoy (what I did), and have it dyno tuned. I have been running my full system with my slip on upmap, which the TuneBoy program "trims", but still is based upon, and the bike runs perfectly fine. Since the Ducati programs tend to be very rich, the difference between the two programs is not significant. Eventually, I will have it dyno tuned to get it exact.

How much did the tuneboy cost you?

I decided to try plugging in the R up-map into my S and it uploaded without a problem, my cluster now shows Racing EVO, no errors. Im scratching my head on this one.

How is the bike running playaktam? Ride report? I am thinking of doing the same thing, provided it does not void the warranty.

Im in the process of installing the pipes now, earlier i just wanted to see if the R up-map would even upload to my S. The upload of the R map was successful. Ill let you know how it rides after i finish installing.

Could this be the reason you couldnt upload the up-map? In the picture it says you have to go back to the oem map first before you can upload the race map

That is indeed fascinating. Is there any possibility the R owner never used the usb key on his bike before he sent it to you? I will be trying that exact methodology on my bike to see if it works for me. Thanks for the heads-up.

The usb key was never used, the system i bought was brand new in the box. With the part number from the R, even has the vin number of the R that it was supposed to go with.

The only problem I could see is that the R up-map gives 500 more rpm and for a non R motor this could mean disaster.

Playaktam, I did the usb key install as you suggested, and you are indeed correct - it loaded up the first time. Thanks much for the help. Now I need only to reload he TuneBoy cruise control and trim program. If any other forum members have the TuneBoy, is this necessary to reload (before I bother with it), or is changing the usb key something that leaves the TuneBoy programming unmolested in the ECU? Thanks to all of you for your help.

This may have been explained somewhere else, if so apologies for the repeat question. For bike warranty purposes, can one remove the tune boy, leave no trace and Ducati is no wiser? I worry about voiding factory warranty on my S, and would rather do a Dyno tune at the dealer. The downside is, it's a one-time deal, no further tuning is possible.

Desmobil, I am no expert on the TuneBoy by any means, but I am pretty sure you can dyno-tune the bike, and thereafter save the values on the TuneBoy Trim program. Then when needed, you can reload it back onto the ECU at a later time if you have changed back to OEM programming for dealer work. My question a few posts above deals with whether if you change the keyed programming, it is necessary to reload the TuneBoy cruise and trim programs again - in other words, by changing the keyed programming (base to slip-on to full Termi) does this procedure erase the TuneBoy programming you had previously loaded? The bike is apart at the moment, so until my OZ Carlos Checa wheels come in, no way to test the cruise control (I guess I could start it on the stands and see if I get the blip from activating the cruise - but as TuneBoy owners know, it sometimes doesn't give you the activation blip). Fun times.

Update: The loading of the usb key does NOT affect the TuneBoy programming it appears as I heard the throttle blip upon activation of the cruise control.
