Question about slip on up-map and full up-map

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Playaktam, I did the usb key install as you suggested, and you are indeed correct - it loaded up the first time. Thanks much for the help. Now I need only to reload he TuneBoy cruise control and trim program. If any other forum members have the TuneBoy, is this necessary to reload (before I bother with it), or is changing the usb key something that leaves the TuneBoy programming unmolested in the ECU? Thanks to all of you for your help.

Congrats!

The maps are stored in the ECU, all the Up-map key does is unlock and activate the map. So using an 1199R up-map key on an 1199S does not install an 1199R map, it just unlocks the full-system map in the 1199S ECU. The only way to get a new map into the ECU (other than aftermarket reflashing) is through the DDS at the dealership where we get the new maps released by Ducati and update them as part of the service update process. There were several revisions to the OEM Termi maps over the past two years, so as long as you've had your bike in for service in recent history you should have the updated maps in your ECU already.

So the racing evo map i unlocked is the same map as the s? Or would i have unlocked the Rs map, it doesnt make sense, im no expert but im pretty sure the bike downloads something off the up-map, because why would a base ecu or s ecu have the Rs map already installed? Im not even sure if the Racing evo map between the R and S is different or not

It doesn't have the R map.

The R key just unlocks your upgraded racing evo S map.

I may have missed something, but what exactly will an R map do for a S or Tri exactly?

Nothing.

Your bike has 3 different maps already on it from the factory for the different options

Stock
Cans
full exhaust

The key only lets you switch between the stock map, and the map the key is telling the ECU to switch to, depending on what kit you bought.

That is correct, the up-map key just unlocks the map in the ECU. The 1199R has a completely different ECU from the base/s/tri so any map for that bike would not work in the other bikes anyway.

Outhouse and Jareli you are correct.

Another option:
I just talked to Bryan at Boulder Motor Sports and they can reflash your stock ECU for $365. They have options on the reflashing as well, like throttle blipping too.
According to Bryan, reflashing is a best way to go. He told me it is better than the maps in the ECU. Their tuning ability is only going to get better and better.

Incidentally, I was just about to up-date my ad after talking to Bryan at Boulder Motor Sports too.

Okay Gents
thanks for the clarification.. For a moment I was getting the impression that my Tricolore and the rest of the 'S' type models already had an R map in its ECU but the only way to get access to it and download it was through the 'R' up-map.. But now I see that the S models never had that 'R' map in its ECU, so there is now way to get an 'R" map even if we had the 'R' up-map USB because it doesn't load in a 'map' , it only 'unlocks' a map in the ECU, and the 'S' models don't have the same maps as the 'R' models...
(sorry for the run on sentences)

.......Is this all Correct:confused:

This means us guys with base models and S models can buy termis off the R and the upmap from the R works! No errors.

Yes, and we have you to thank for making it clear that we must first go back to the OEM standard exhaust map (if currently running the slip-on map) BEFORE we update it to the full Termi system. Thanks much as mine accepted the key when done with this procedure. Thanks again!!

Apologies for refloating the thread.

I have a 1199 S of the year 2012 with complete Termignoni exhaust line.

Yesterday, by chance, I verified that the bike has the references of the 1199 R installed.

I have all the papers of the complete exhaust line and the up map box where these references come out.

Exhaust system reference: 964.801.141 A.
Up Map reference: 965.243.11 C.

Do those references belong to the R model? It ´s reflected Panigale R-D129+D130-57423331A

When giving contact, in the dash the message "Racing Evo" appears, all ok and without any problem.

Should I verify something or can I be calm?
I have read here that the up map of the r can be used in the s without problem.

The maps are loaded in the ECU of the motorcycle and the up map only frees them, the map of the R, loads the system for the S.

Is this really like this?

Do you know if there are updates for the UP map of the complete termignoni system?

Thanks

It only unlocks the map already stored on the ECU so shouldn't be a issue.

DDS has ecu updates which can include fueling but nobody has a clue because ducati don't do release notes.
