Hi after the first day of ownership my 1199 when quick shifting from 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th slips between gears and over revs?? Am I doing something wrong.? Should I be applying more acceleration ??

Lower the shifter a bit, you're not going through the entire stroke. It's what cured my false neutrals.

Mine and quite a few others did the same thing. There are a number of different opinions regarding this, I found when it was new quick shifting at low rpm (under 6k) I would get the odd false neutral and over rev it.

I had a play with the quick shifter when new but was advised to turn it off until I'd run up the kms and bedding in the clutch. So I followed the advice...

At first service I had the clutch bled, turned on the quick shifter and have not had a problem since, very cool.

However as I've said there are a number of opinions on what you should and shouldn't do, this is what worked for me

Had this a couple of times myself at lower revs.

You have to be positive with your left foot.

Wait! You have to put your left foot on the clutch lever? Will that relieve the heat issue? Can't resist:D

Hmmmm it is a virus, the heat thing gets into every thread,,, as for the shift issue, be more positive with the shift and don't use the clutch on the up shift after 4000 rpm, the quick shift and clutch action can conflict which feels like slip or over rev... Make sure u don't have the shift leaver set too fine... I found that on the odd occasion on fast changes of direction I can catch the shift rod with my foot and the engine will cut out... Had the same issue on the 675R, takes a little getting used to if its ur first bike with a QS... Doesn't help if u use race shift at the track and. Switch to road shift patten on ur road bike... Infact its a pain in the .......

Ok i went for another ride...I have not used the clutch over 4000rpms and and it keeps slipping between 4th, 5th and 6th...I have assertively pushed up on the pedal and still not working..what gives

I don't use DQS unless I am going at least 1/2 throttle. DQS gives that split second when attempting to go fast. If I am not in a hurry, the clutch still works. Learn the clutch less up shift technique without the quick shifter, helps you understand when to use DQS.

so I rang Ducati

They said it is a problem and should not be doing this?
I have to bring it so they can run it on their computer and remap if required.........

Did they check it and what did they say?

The quick shifter works a lot better under load. Definitely, at least 1/2 throttle, or more.

^This. More important if you don't have big feet. I wear a sz 10 boot, and this was a must (and worked). The footpeg to shifter distance is pretty long on the Pani as well, considerably longer than any of my other bikes; meaning the stroke is longer. Of course Ducati had to make adjusting the shifter position twice as hard as it should be, since you cant just loosen the end nuts on the connecting rod and turn the middle to easily fine tune the position like you can with just about every other sportbike on earth. I think someone sells a replacement connecting rod with reversed threads on one end to make this possible, but it's kind of ridiculous that it doesn't come that way already. Forget for now where I saw that; will update my post with if I can remember.
